How to greet in Wolof (useful when traveling to Senegal or The Gambia):
A: Asalaam aleikum.
B: Malekum salaam.
A: Naga def?
B: Maangiy fii.
A: Ana waa keur gi?
B: Nungiy faa.
A: Alhamdullilah.
This means, more or less:
A: Hello!
B: Hello!
A: How are you?
B: I am here.
A: How is the family?
B: They are there.
A: Thanks be to God. (optional, but always a good idea, I figure!)
When in doubt, when greeting in Wolof, you can always say "Alhamdullilah - Thanks be to God!," or "Jamm rekk," which means 'Peace only.'
What I Can Share with Hosts
My house, hospitality, Casamance culture, the nature and many interesting things like a nice time is Ziguinchor. I can show the city and especially my neighbourhood. You can meet my friends. I do not want people to only crash on my couch. I want them to have a nice time in Ziguinchor.
