Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I have met many people while traveling who have been very generous, and spontaneously offered to share a couch for a night. This web-page idea is completely new to me. I have also done a lot of hostelling; I like traveling alone, I really enjoy solitude, but to balance that, it's a real treat to interact with other travlers, or others interested in sharing experiences.

One Amazing Thing I've Done
Noticing the comet Hale Bopp (or what was it called?) while camping with a friend - we were sleeping outside in a desert wildlife refuge a few hundred miles north of Phoenix. Neither of us had heard that there was a comet scheduled to approach, but waking up in the middle of the night, it was an obvious presence in the star-studded desert night sky- and we asked each other, "is that a comet? Have you heard anything about that?"
