About Me

CURRENT MISSION

never stop learning.

ABOUT ME

I just bought ten acres in South Texas. I plan to build several cabins on my property to illustrate different green building styles and ideas for energy efficient living. Anyone interested in lending a hand, please come out and enjoy the peace and quiet and BEAUTY of the stars at night! And if you just want to relax, that's cool too! I have a cat... and a tiny tree frog lives in my bathroom by his own choice.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about connections. Everyone has something to teach. ALSO... nothing in life is permanent (except death)... so, if there is something you've thought about doing, and the worse case scenario isn't death, then go for it. Try things. You don't have to continue... don't like it? Return to the old way or try something new. Every path can be chosen and changed.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was a full time traveling musician for over 6 years. I took a year off from travel to work on setting up the property. Now, I am both traveling and working on the property.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with several people for various amounts of time. As a traveler, I was careful to select what I thought would be a good match and I had fantastic experiences every single time. People were incredibly welcoming and generous with their time and food. It was lovely. I hope I can be the same kind of hostess.

Interests

Irish music.... folk music.... tiny houses... efficient spaces... energy use... alternative building processes and materials.... singing.... travels.... accepting and learning from people.... growth.... sewing (everything from clothes and crafts to pop-up trailers and canvas pavilions).

Music, Movies, and Books

Traditional Irish music... Movies: I like the odd ones, Amelie, Big Fish, Barry Lyndon, Babe, Warm Bodies... Most of the books I read are how to do something. If I read fiction, it's usually something set in Ireland or WWII. Remembering titles is not one of my talents.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I picked up my first instrument at age 30 and became an on-the-road professional musician by age 32. I traveled and lived for four years in a Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter van that I converted to a small house on wheels.... That's a few things. There are more.

Teach, Learn, Share

All of my interests involve learning. I am not an expert in any of those areas. I love learning and exploring. Because I have learned, I can also share and teach. I like to think of it more as sharing than teaching. Sharing is a two way stream of conversation and exploration of ideas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can certainly share laughter. Sharing joy... what else is there?
