Hi, this is Abdullah :) I am currently studying to become a teacher in Cologne, my hometown. My parents were born in Antalya, Turkey. Beside my studies, I work at a local NGO where I do some radicalisation prevention based work as well but mostly teach youths on weekends. I love languages, reading, watching films and I have recently started trying to figure out the guitar. I also enjoy cooking, but I prefer eating :D

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
To be honest, I am trying to start couchsurfing because I need to stay in another city for a night. I love the concept and hope to become a long-term couchsurfer/couchsurfee (?) :D
Music, Movies, and Books
I love hip-hop. It is probably the art form I enjoy the most. My favourite artists are Lupe Fiasco, Chefket and Samy Deluxe (the last two are German). Other than that, I love listeng to traditional Arabic, Turkish and other music which is rather difficult to categorise - and I don't know much about their history. But some artists are Light in Babylon and the al-Firdaus ensemble are really cool. My absolute favourite novel is To Kill a Mockingbird. I am kind of reading many other novels side by side at the moment for university, but the ones I have chosen for myself are The Lord of the Rings, Sophie's World (audiobook actually) and Hamlet. I also like to read some non-fiction when it comes to my field of work, namely deradicalisation. Other than that, I also enjoy theological and philosophical discourses. I enjoy series more than films, although I do love films such as La Haine, In Bruges and also more popular stuff like the Dark Knight trilogy. My favourite TV series are Mr. Robot, Daredevil and Stranger Things. I am currently watching Black Mirror and am totally thrilled.
One Amazing Thing I've Done

What I Can Share With Hosts
Depending on the situation, I can be a quiet guest whose presence you won't notice because I don't have much to ask. On the other hand, I am a lively conversation partner and open to any kind of friendly discussion. Of course, I assure my hosts that I can tidy up after myself and these obvious things.
