About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting people from all around the world! Just as everyone here I guess.

ABOUT ME

Spaniard living in Hungary.

I am a student of languages and lover of travels. In all my trips and stays I have tried (successfully most of the times) to make friends from everywhere - now I won't be alone whenever I go to St Petersburg, Belgrade, Helsinki and so many other cool cities. As soon as I entered university, I signed up as a volunteer for welcoming foreign students, the first of which arrived five months later from Brazil. Since then, I welcomed an average of 2-3 people per semester from lots of countries in three continents.

Concerning my personality, I'm not too much of a party kind of person but I can spend endless hours around some drinks with good company. I make lots of puns and silly jokes that usually confuse people at first, so I try to keep them at a minimum with new people.

PHILOSOPHY

Regret what you have done, not what you haven't. Don't be afraid of changes and give yourself the chance to be happy. All of this is easier to say than to do, but in the end your life will be full and you will feel your time hasn't been wasted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am happy to host people, meet anyone in the street, show the city, have a drink and share our stories. The thing is, I once traveled to Belgrade, where I have some friends. It was one of my first times abroad free of schools or other obligations. After seeing the city, I know I wouldn't have liked it had I traveled alone, but thanks to my friends' guidance I discovered the Serbian culture and a different side of the capital, making it an unforgettable experience. That's why I value meeting local people so much. So if you are coming to Vigo (update: or Budapest! But you will like Budapest no matter what), don't hesitate to contact me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed and hung out a few times.

Interests

Learning languages is a hobby I turned into a goal in life. I speak four languages fluently (Spanish, Galician, English, French), can manage with other two (Italian, Portuguese) and have notions of four more (German, Slovak, Russian, Hungarian; and I forgot almost all the Swedish I knew). Most of my free time is dedicated to music and history. I don't play any instruments, but I listen to music, review albums for an online magazine, attend concerts, interview bands... Music is my passion, I'd say. The genre that occupies 70% of my time is metal in its multiple forms (from Iron Maiden to Emperor, including Blind Guardian, Manowar, Arkona, Moonsorrow, and I could go on for three pages), but I'm also a lover of Queen, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep and other 70's and 80's progressive and symphonic rock bands; some folk, especially from Northern Slavic lands; and some classical, especially genius Tchaikovski, only equalled by no-less-genius Henri Sorvali! Those are my real passions and interests. Other than that, I like knowing a bit about everything. For example, I know a bit more about history than general average, but anybody with a real interest in history will be high above me. This makes me an unbeatable opponent at Trivial Pursuit, wanna try? :)

(Although, as of summer 2014, for one or two years I've started to develop a real interest in History, actually... I would love to hear about the history of your city as much as to tell you the history of mine!)

...as of summer 2016, I'm constantly reading history books and magazines. Nowadays I really enjoy visiting historical places where important events happened.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film: "12 Angry Men". No other film, book, public speech or conference talk changed my way of thinking as much as that film.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

May not be so amazing really. Walked the whole north-west peninsula of Malta (between Mellieha and the ferry quay) under the mid-day sun of June with no food, no water and no money to get either of them. From the center to the quay and to the border of the cliffs and to the red tower (St. Agatha's), because I kept on thinking: I'm leaving Malta soon, so if I give up now, I will probably never seen them! It was 100% worth it. But I think I had never been that thirsty in my life.

2016 update: I filmed a documentary about Moonsorrow in Finland. That is pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Telling and listening to each other's stories about trips is something I enjoy a lot. I can show you my city and tell you everything I know about it. I would like to learn the same about yours :)
