About Me

**Before you request to stay, please read about my home.

**If I offer to host you and you don't accept, I will not be expecting you. If you then send email with short notice, i may not respond in time.

**I had a very bad experience with a last minute request so unless you communicate with me before hand, I am not open to accept last minute requests.

**Also, I had a bad experience because I tried to help someone with no references (my own mistake). You need to have references, otherwise sorry.

Other than that I welcome everyone. 99% of my couchsurfing experience has been absolutely amazing.

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to share our beautiful hiking trails with anyone visiting Johannesburg. I manage a private hiking club and if that is your thing, you are welcome to join us.

ABOUT ME
I am an African! Proudly so. I am young at heart and embrace whatever beauty I can absorb from life.

I am quite involved in charity because I am privileged and living in Africa :) - my current project is very cool - IG @theoddsocksproject. I am sometimes involved in a weekend charity school that addresses the shortfalls of education in poverty stricken townships. If you want to join the school, I will try and arrange it.

Apart from that, I am active and busy. I work long hours but I am very social and love meeting people. I love to cook and share good food, good wine and good everything. I love animals. I have a crazy amazing dog called Rocky.

I love getting out of the city. I am in the mountains close to Jhb almost every second weekend.

I also love all creative, arty things.

I like intelligent conversations and philosophy and I'm very open to hear people's views on the unknown aspects of life. Each to his own.

PHILOSOPHY
Keep moving, if you don't move forward, you will move backwards. Everything is moving, when you stop moving, the world will leave you behind. Keep moving.

Just because you don’t like something, does not mean it isn’t beautiful.

Happiness are hidden in the small things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love helping people to feel and safe when traveling to SA. If you have questions, just ask. Even if I am not hosting you.

I love meeting people from all over. When I host people it feels like I am the traveler in my own vibrant city, Johannesburg. If I have time I can show you around.

When I travel I surf, even for business. It's just so great.

Couchsurfing is the best (only) way to travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing really is the only way to travel for me. I have only met interesting people on here. It doesn’t matter how people differ in personalities and interests, couchsurfers are all warm, like minded people. When i am not travelling, I host. To me it feels like traveling at home. The most amazing people share their stories and experiences with me and I love how travelers can show me beauty in my own city that I take for granted!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am not a big movie person (you’d rather see me in theatre enjoying a stage performance or at an orchestra) but I do like ‘feel good’ movies or movies with some meaning to it. I read from time to time and I enjoy biographies, and some fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done so many amazing things that took my breath away. I’m addicted to hiking so these days i’m amazed whenever I get out of the city 😁

Swimming in crystal clear mountain rock pools and under waterfalls.

Other awesome things include the David statue by Michelangelo in the Academia Museum, Florence, Italy.
I've also walked the Vasari corridor in Florence, been on top of table mountain and partied in the biggest nightclub on earth in Ibiza. I have been really close to wildlife which is always amazing. I have roadtripped from Brussels to Amsterdam and explored the best bars and best beer in both these countries. Another great experience was a slow train journey from Berlin to Prague and it just so happened that I met amazing people along the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's just so awesome to see how all people live the same life in so many different ways.

I can teach you how to work with your hands, do woodwork, make stuff. I can teach you some art and how to cook the best boboti ever.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am respectful of your home and your space. I am also very considerste with regards to your schedules and availability. I am happy to cook and clean and share culture stories.
