to master the work-life balance
So my name is Adam.. i regard myself as a pretty positive guy...my life has involved travelling around a fair bit, living in Mexico for a year, and spending some time in China.
This year I am living and working in Canberra. I am living with two very good friends.. we hang out a fair bit, and our hobbies include:
Adam: learning chinese, watching docos, being disorganised
Jack: being a lawyer, buying shoes on Asos
Wes: growing a beard, playing basketball
We have the collective hobby of getting into heated debates about things that we probably already agree on. If you come stay with us you are encouraged to join in!
Our weekends are spent cruising around canberra getting coffees, sometimes surfing, sometimes golfing, then often going out to a house party or the one good bar in Canberra. You'll be encouraged to join in these things too. Weekdays in the daytime we go to work. You probably can't join in for that part.
Anyway if you wanna come stay with us just shoot me a message, and if you have time maybe include a story or some life advice...could be ten words...could be 100...whatever you want to share!
Try new things. Be nice. Wear sunscreen. Update: I have read some Peter Singer stuff and really connect with his logic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfed in Europe in mid '08. Hosted in 2009. Surfed a lil bit in 2010...
I had 4 lonely days with nothing to do in a small town in Spain. I turned to couchsurfing simply asking for friends and in 12 hours I had friends.. Couldn't ask for more! Stayed with many other fantastic people. Always blown away by the immediate trust that hosts had in me, and really want to give other people that feeling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2010 I went on a bicycle trip with a friend. We camped along the way, and didn't have riding clothes, so for most of it looked disheveled and homeless. In Charlotte, a man was walking around begging.. he asked me for money and when I said I didn't have enough to give him any, he looked up and saw what state my clothes and face were in, looked a bit shocked and then tried to hand ME $5. I said I didn't need HIS money, but just couldn't spare my own. He then insisted, saying he made over $100 a day doing what he did. A 2nd homeless person saw this happen and offered to take the gift that I turned down. The beggar was not so willing to give it to him though. A conversation ensued between the 3 of us over who should get the money.
