Find a way to turn my passions and hobbies into my livelihood. And drinking lots of beer on the way.
I quit my job and sold everything in 2011 not knowing what to do with my life, but knowing I needed to explore. I spent the next 3 years getting to know my home country and exploring it in its entirety. In the process, I fell in love with travel, culture, and nature. I am now committed to immersing myself in the culture of others and growing in doing so. That all sounds deep, but I am actually very easy going and carefree.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted as much as I possibly could while stationary, and am a very well-mannered and socially intelligent surfer.
Went the first 4 months without trying it because I felt like it was "cheating," instead relying on personal networking to find hosts and sleeping in the car when I had to. After my first experience with it though, I was hooked. Having a host who shares a passion for kindness and travel, and can show you their city through the eyes of a local is better than any hotel, motel, campsite, hostel, or parking lot.
I love music and have been to hundreds of concerts/festivals, as well as breweries and photography. When exploring a new area, I am equally interested in the outdoor activities as the city scene. I want to see and/or do something unforgettable everywhere I go, as well as absorb the local culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Quitting my old life of relative wealth and luxury to travel as a homeless, nomadic vagabond has allowed me to see and do more in two years than my previous 25.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to travel the nation for free, except gas - but even that can come with a discount. I know quite a bit about landscape photography as well.
I have plenty to learn about plenty of things...
