I am a 30 year old travel writer from London, UK, currently making my way around the world after working for a short period in Peru. I love discovering new cultures, meeting new people and learning about all the most unique things about a new city. I am an avid reader, lover of music, art and photography and can be found either in a quiet corner with a book, in a crowd jumping up and down to live music, or taking pictures of just about everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I became interesting Couchsurfing for the community aspect as I love viewing a city from the perspective of a local and meeting people who have a genuine interest in nurturing the nomadic lifestyle. I would much rather meet people who know about the city they live in and are willing to help those that are passing through than jump from generic hostel to hostel. Also, when I was living in London a few years back I lived in a flat with a couch surfing edge. We allowed many travelers to stay with us who were passing through and I loved the atmosphere new people brought to our home.

I've been big into the London punk scene since I was a kid, but I like a lot of indie and folk music as well such as Sufjan Stevens, Built to Spill, The Decemberists, Elliot Smith, Grizzly Bear, Feist, Frank Turner, Great Lake Swimmers and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One very random thing about me is that I grew up playing ice hockey in the UK and played for Great Britain for a few years. During this time I was able to travel to China to participate in the student olympic games a year after the Beijing Olympics.
