About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enlightenment and affectionate detachment.

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Casey! I'm fun, outgoing, a little bit crazy. My family and friends all tease me saying that when I walk into a place of strangers I leave with a dozen friends.

My favorite thing to do is to meet new people and hear their stories. Someday I would like to write a book about different CouchSurfers and the amazing things that they have been able to accomplish through CouchSurfing.

I have been passionate about traveling for as long as I can remember. I was lucky growing up and had the opportunity to live abroad with my family as well as spend the majority of my youth in Alaska. I can't think of too many better places to grow up than Alaska. It definitely cultivated my sense of adventure. I grew up fishing, camping, trekking on glaciers. It was a lot of fun!

PHILOSOPHY

It seems like everywhere I go, the more I see the less I know.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe that CouchSurfing has the potential to help create a world without borders. A world without hungry children and without people living in fear of racism and violence.
As the wise Kelly Patterson always says, "It only takes meeting one cool person from another culture to dissolve any preconceptions or prejudices."

I am part of the New Member Welcome team. I love it! I get to see all the new members who join and send them personalized greetings welcoming them to our community. Would you like to do that to? Ask me how!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfing has changed my life in the best of ways! I've been able to host amazing people from around the world as well as meet people in my local communities that I may not have found otherwise.

My first surfing (not hosting) experience ended up with me on German national television talking about Couchsurfing. That was exciting!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an ecclectic taste in everything.

Top movies: Everything Is Illuminated, Snatch, Zoolander, Y Tu Mama Tambien

Top Books: The Alquemist by Paulo Coelho, Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer, Night by Elie Wiesel, The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Growing up in Alaska I have seen the most amazing northern lights! It doesn't matter how many times they come out, they are so magical I am always awe-struck.

In Bali a group of CouchSurfers climbed an active volcano at sunrise. We were hot and sweaty when we got to the top, but as the sun crested the mountains and the fog cleared it was a gorgeous view.

Teach, Learn, Share

Here are two links that every member of CouchSurfing should read. They are the tips pages for both surfers and hosts. Some good guidelines here!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and do dishes! I am also skilled and spinning a long yarn and keeping my hosts well entertained. If you want a shoulder to lean on and a friendly ear to bend, I'm a pretty great listener.
