ABOUT ME

I am Anna. I have a habit of going with the flow, wherever it takes me. This has led me to go drop out of a wacky meditation college, accidentally circumnavigate the globe, move all sorts of weird places, try lots of careers, and make some pretty amazing friends. Sometimes I feel like a curious child, others I feel like a living goddess, and still others I feel like a wise old woman. Life, to me, is a series of beautiful moments and divine lessons... Not to be taken too seriously! Spirituality with a healthy balance of good music and food and dancing: this is how I enjoy my days.
I am a doula (childbirth attendant) and nanny by trade, but my real goal in moving to Indonesia is to live without goals. I wish to find a community of women that live in spirit, but I am looking forward to the journey of finding it!

兴趣

The great outdoors (hiking, biking, tree climbing, etc), yoga, meditation, dancing like a fool, doing weird creative things, dressing up, singing, playing ukulele (working on it), growing plants, eating things from the earth, supporting women before, during, and after childbirth. I really want to dive deeply into spirituality this year and learn some ancient traditions. But mostly I wish to learn to enjoy this world without feeling like I have to save it!

Music: Cocorosie. They are my favorite. I can- and do- dig most things, though. Random sampling: Joni Mitchell, Robyn, Leonard Cohen, Beck, Ace of Base, most things '80's, Vashti Bunyan, Taken By Trees Cut Copy, Daft Punk, Gotye, Chopin, Lykke Li, Regina Spektor, Stevie Wonder. And I love supporting the Fairfield music scene- so much talent out there! Lane Weaver, Little Ruckus, Surgery, Josie Overmeyer- you guys rock my world.
Movies: Currently kind of into romcoms (don't judge, they can be pretty fantastic). Love and Other Drugs, Adam, One Day. I like revisiting movies from my youth, like Jurassic Park, Pete's Dragon, and most things Disney (though I'm beginning to suspect that the "happily ever after" myth was mind poison). Oh, and Tombstone.
Books: An exhausting question. I'm reading The Essential Muir right now. His Dark Materials series was one of the most phenomenal works I've ever read. All-time favorites include Ishmael, Mister God This Is Anna, The Last Unicorn, To Kill a Mockingbird, anything Tom Robbins or Roald Dahl, Life of Pi, The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood... and... and... and.... Well, The Celestine Prophecy isn't the most advanced literary work, but it did irrevocably alter my life for the better.

Just one thing?......
I was at BodyWorlds 2 a few weeks ago and saw the entire anatomy of a giraffe. It was nauseating, but easily one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Did you know they only have seven vertebrae?! And the heart was the size of my torso!

I can teach: basic ukulele, pregnancy and childbirth support, yoga, knitting, relaxation techniques, nutrition, the science of being and art of living.
I want to learn: everything. Music, painting, random skills, massage, how to do the perfect handstand, ancient spiritual songs and traditions.....
