About Me

CURRENT MISSION

smile and laugh every day

ABOUT ME

I'm Mikaela

I enjoy spending my time with my family and friends; watching movies togheter, taking walks, cooking, going out dancing.. I like exploring places, getting to know people and trying new things!

I studied civil engineering in Stockholm and am now working as an environmental coordinator in infrastructure projects. I’m also making an effort to do some studying to finish my thesis, better late than never!

I'm a friendly, caring and sociable person and my favourite hobby must be dancing salsa or swimming in lakes or seas! :)

PHILOSOPHY

I know these quotes/lyrics are a bit tacky, but I like them:

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called 'the present' [heard in Kung Fu Panda]

All the crazy shit I did tonight, that would be the best therapy for me [David Guetta – Memories]

It ain't over 'til it's over [Lenny Kravitz]

Being a bit crazy prevents me from going mad.

Lycka är att vilja vara där man är.

Vill! Det finns inget måste

Vilja! Vara! Våga!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed only a few times (in beuatiful Berlin and Bruges) + hosted during my exchange in Helsinki as well as when i lived in Stockholm Södermalm and Stockholm Solna, but I am hoping to soon have more CS-experiences!

ADVICE FOR STOCKHOLM:
- There is a way to go to/from the airport with only an SL-ticket (local public transport). Make sure to change to/from commuter train to/from bus in Märsta and you'll not have to pay any supplement fee that you would otherwise pay if you start or end your journey with the commuter train station Arlanda.
- Continuing on the topic of public transport; I do reccoment the ferries included with the SL-card for sightseeing. Check out commuter ferries 80, 82, 83, 89 on sl.se - Stockholms is so beautiful with all the surrounding water - so enjoy it from the boat(s)!
- Hermans vegetarian buffé is tasty and the restaurant has an awesome view over Stockholm. The Fotografiska museum is also close by, usually has interesting exhbitions and has an equally good view.
- Ulriksdals trädgårdscafé as an awsome vegetarian lunchbuffet on weekdays. The resturant is inside a green house, so it's a great athmosphere for a plant lover!
- Hellasgården is a good place for nature, yet close to the city. Enjoy walks, rent MTB, do training in outdoor gym and sauna & swimming.
-Pelikan resturang is a good place to try some tradional food and and historic atmosphere! A bit pricey but the meatballs for example are well worth their price!
- For cinnamon or cardamom buns try Vete-Katten on Kungsgatan or the chain of ”Bröd & Salt”.

Music, Movies, and Books

Do enjoy reading both facts and fiction.

The book 'Go Ask Alice' and movie 'Requiem for a dream' impacted me to never want to do drugs!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing a shooting star after a perfect summer's day had turned into a beutiful summer's night.

Jumping into ice cold water a night in january after sauna in Otaniemi, Finland. There was so much adrenaline pumping through my body when I got out of the water!
