About Me
My Instagram, if you want to see your future host or guest 😅: alelisfox. It's also my Telegram.
My name is Aleks (but in Russian, people call me Sasha). I'm an enthusiastic Russian geologist—positive, cheerful, sociable, open-minded, smart enough, and maybe just a bit too modest 😄. Despite my young age, life has taken me around the world; by 25, I had already visited many countries across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and finally, Australia.
I have worked on a UNESCO scientific expedition in the far north of the Arctic Ocean and have visited the northernmost oil field. I’ve also taken part in engineering projects in Uzbekistan and Morocco. But my career isn’t limited to geology—I’ve taught at school, worked as a manager in an IT company, and even freelanced as a graphic designer 😎
I studied at Russia’s top university, Lomonosov Moscow State University, known for being the tallest academic building in the world and a must-see landmark in Moscow 🏰. Later, I enrolled in a British petroleum engineering program through Imperial College London and Kazan Federal University. Unfortunately, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I had to leave my studies and my country.
For a year, I traveled the world, exploring different countries, and eventually settled in Australia. I’m currently completing my Master’s degree at the University of Wollongong 🇦🇺.
I love to travel and do so often, for both work and leisure. City trips, mountain hiking, cycling, river rafting, camping, skiing, geological expeditions, and scientific sea cruises—all these activities bring me joy 😁. I also enjoy music, dancing, books, science, history, and politics 🌐, but geography is my true passion.
I'm a fan of Middle Eastern culture, especially after visiting Iran, and I try to maintain a bit of oriental hospitality at home. You’ll find various artifacts from my travels in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. I also adore Latin America, especially the southern countries (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay), and have collected many artifacts from there—including my Spanish language skills.
I live with my husband. We have an international family (I’m Russian, and he is Tatar), and we married in May 2023 in Argentina.
I'm fluent in Russian, English, and Spanish, though my Spanish is a bit rusty since I rarely practice it in Australia.
I really enjoy spending time with hosts and guests. We can go for walks, explore the city center, parks, or outskirts, watch movies, visit museums, attend exhibitions, join Couchsurfing meetups, go camping, or visit friends.
Looking forward to meeting you 😉

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've participated in many mountain and water trips, with one of the most memorable being a month-long hike in the Caucasus. During that expedition, we conquered 16 passes and reached the peak of Elbrus. I've also explored the mountains of Altai on the border of Kazakhstan and Russia.
In 2022-2023, I embarked on a journey around the world, following this route: Russia - Kazakhstan - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Tajikistan - India - Oman - UAE - Turkey - Ethiopia - Argentina - Uruguay - Chile - Paraguay - Brazil - Peru - Bolivia - New Zealand - Australia.
My move to Australia itself is quite remarkable.
Additionally, I participated in a scientific expedition (Cruise) in the extreme north, where I researched parts of the seabed that had never been studied before 😎
And to top it off, I got married on the other side of the world.
