About Me

- 32y Spain Asturian, oceanologist,
We have an appartment nearby trainstation GENT SINT PIETERS.
Already 6 years i do couchsurfing. It all started in Sint-Niklaas, now we do hosting in Gent. Since august 2018 we moved to the area around Sint-Pieters-Aalst, next to the Miljoenkwartier (the World Expo 1913 area).
During weekdays we both work. We like to do some sport (swimming, capoeira, yoga, running...). During weekends we prefer hanging around with our friends, family, a little party, drinking belgian beer...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
People are always free for writing me for some tips, advice or asking to sleep at my place. You really need to visit the city GENT. Even Lonely Planet says that this city is the nicest unhidden city of Belgium! The tourists are going to Bruges, the couchsurfers to Gent ;-).
We don't offer my couch for last minute people. We are not a free hotel. I want first to learn my couchsurfers better on Facebook and/or Whatsapp. Always nicer like that!
Couchsurfing is for me the app to be meeting up with locals, not with other travelers. For meeting up other travelers I will go to sleep in hostels.
So, if you are going to send us a request, please start by writing the word "Buffalo". Then I will know that you read my profile. We won't host people that are sending a couch request for the same day or week.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In april 2014 I did my first trip on my own. I went to Israel and found with couchsurfing 3 places to stay. It was a lovely experience to learn a country and their spirits in a special way.
Since I'm living with my partner in Gent, we open "the couch" again. There were already some people who came to discover the city and slept at my place (Singapore, Spain, Russia, Brasil, Austria, Israel, Hong Kong, Poland...). We love showing tourists the city and having great evenings.
End of december 2014 untill May 2015 I did a big Couchsurfing trip. Many people hosted me in Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Belize. It was the best experience to got in touch with the locals (people, tradition, food...). Never thought that Couchsurfing would be so much fun. Untill today I have some great friends in these countries.
A lot of our couchsurfing friends are now friends of us. Some couchsurfers visiting us every year, and we visit them in their hometown. That's the spirit op Couchsurfing.
Interests
My biggest passion is traveling and local sightseeing. I also do a course for being a city guide.
During the trips I really like being 24h/24h in the nature. Don't put me in an all-inclusive hotel please ;-). I like hanging around with the locals, having a good talk, drinking a good beer... That's what I'm also doing a lot in Belgium with my friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
2003-2004: AFS exchange program: living 1 year with a host family in Oruro, Bolivia. I studied antropology and also voluntary work. It was so cool! I went back in 2007 (for 2 months), working in a juvenile prison.
2012: I did a deadride from the Atomium, the world exposition monument of 1958.
2015: traveling alone for almost 5 months, with support of couchsurfing, from Bogota untill Belize City.
2019: my first marathon.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Some important rules you need to know before sending us a request: you can find it in "my home, what you can offer guests".
Our intention as a Couchsurfer host is to show you my beautiful country. I live in Ghent (just check it on google images and you will love it 100%): it is the perfect mix for tourists and locals. I show you the touristic hotspots, the hidden places, nice (pop-up) bars... I love to talk about living a life, sharing experiences, listening (local) music, cooking together...
