About Me

Six years after my last extended trip, I’m back on the road for a long journey of almost two years. I enjoy slow travel and taking the time to understand places beyond the surface.

Before arriving in Asia, I spent several months in Colombia and Mexico, and then crossed the southern Pacific Ocean for seven months on a traditional tall ship with other travelers and sailors. I am now discovering Asia for the first time, and I’m especially interested in Taiwan’s culture, history, society, politics, and food.

Before traveling, I worked for the mayor of one of Québec’s largest cities. I really enjoyed the work and the team. I studied Political Science and Public Affairs in Montréal, followed by International Law and International Politics in Sherbrooke. Through my studies and travels, I developed a strong interest in democracy, history, and how societies function in everyday life.

Travel has been an important part of my life for many years. In 2014, I backpacked through Central America for six months and worked in a hostel for nearly two months. Later, I taught English in a small community in northern Guatemala, where I lived with local families — an experience that left a deep impression on me. More recently, I spent time hiking in Peru and returned to Cuba, a country I care deeply about.

As a guest, I am calm, respectful, independent, and very easy to host. I adapt easily to house rules and daily routines, and I truly appreciate the trust involved in hosting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In Québec French the words “world” and “people” are the same, it's “monde”. So I would say to discover the monde.

Interests

I enjoy learning about different cultures, social norms, and ways of thinking. I’m open-minded and get along well with most people, especially when there is mutual respect.

I like discovering cities by walking or biking, finding viewpoints, and observing everyday life. I also really enjoy meaningful conversations — about life, values, history, or society — which I often find come naturally within the Couchsurfing community.

Food is another big interest of mine. I love trying local dishes and can eat almost anything (except mushrooms, unfortunately!).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Reggaeton, Cumbia, Rock, Salsa, Hamilton musical, Québec music, all upbeat music that makes me happier.

Movies and TV: The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, Star Wars, Seth Rogen movies.

Books: I really enjoy Magical realism, I am a fan of Bernard Werber, I like historical books and the ones with subtle humour. In the last year or so I readed a lot of Star wars extended universe books and I love it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When volunteering at a hostel in Guatemala city I was bringing tourist see matches of authentic Lucha Libre in a garage I had found while walking around. I took upon myself to show the other travelers this weekly awesome event.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d be happy to teach you a few words of French or help you practice if you like. I also enjoy practicing Spanish.

As a traveler, I love trying local restaurants and would be glad to invite you for a meal or a coffee in your neighborhood if you’re interested.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A positive attitude, good conversations, and relaxed moments — whether walking around the city, sharing a coffee, or chatting quietly in the evening. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to connect and exchange.
