About Me
Six years after my last extended trip, I’m back on the road for a long journey, this time for almost two years; the adventure of a lifetime.
I spent 8 months in Colombia and Mexico before embarking on an seven months crossing of the Southern Pacific with other travelers and sailors on a traditional tall ship (looks like a pirate ship). Currently still navigating the Pacific, I now intend to spend a couple months in Asia, a region I have never seen so I am pretty eager to discover new cultures. I am especially interested in Taiwan's culture, history, politics and food scene.
I’ve worked for the mayor of one of Quebec's largest cities, where I’ve truly enjoyed my job and the team I work with. My academic background includes Political Science and Public Affairs in Montreal, followed by International Law and International Politics in Sherbrooke. One of my interests while studying international relations was the rise of China and the fight for democracy around the world.
In 2014, I did my first backpacking trip across Central America for six months, during which I ended up working in a hostel for nearly two months. It taught me a lot. In 2018-2019, I took another big trip to the US and Central America and ended up teaching English in a small community in Sierra Lacandona, in northern Guatemala. Living with the people there was an incredible experience. My most recent trips were a month backpacking in Peru, where I did a lot of hiking, and returning to Cuba, a country I love dearly.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In Québec French the words “world” and “people” are the same, it's “monde”. So I would say to discover the monde.
Interests
I like to learn about other countries cultures, social norms and political issues. I am very openmind and I think I can get along with about anyone as long as they are also respectful (which I find most people are, most of the time). I love biking as way to discover a city as I also enjoy walking around looking for nice viewpoints.
I love meaningful conversations about life, morals, politics, etc. which I find are easier to have with people in the Couchsurfing community than anywhere else. I also like to try new food and can eat about anything (except mushrooms, sadly).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Reggaeton, Cumbia, Rock, Salsa, Hamilton musical, Québec music, all upbeat music that makes me happier.
Movies and TV: The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, Star Wars, Seth Rogen movies.
Books: I really enjoy Magical realism, I am a fan of Bernard Werber, I like historical books and the ones with subtle humour. In the last year or so I readed a lot of Star wars extended universe books and I love it!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When volunteering at a hostel in Guatemala city I was bringing tourist see matches of authentic Lucha Libre in a garage I had found while walking around. I took upon myself to show the other travelers this weekly awesome event.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be pleased to teach you a few words in French or help you practice if you'd like. I would also be glad to practice my Spanish if it’s your first language.
As a traveler, I really enjoy trying local restaurants and would be happy to invite you to a restaurant in your neighborhood.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My smile, my positiveness and hopefully good times walking around the city or chatting over a beer or coffee.
