I'm Alex Gentry, from Ashland, Oregon, the United States, where I currently live. I intend to move out of the States eventually to move to a non-English-speaking country within the next 5 to 10 years. Also I'm planning to do a LOT of traveling, especially to non-English-speaking countries and to live abroad on every continent by the age of 50. I have a huge passion for traveling and for languages and am very eager to meet people from all around the world, especially for language exchange and making foreign friends. I'm very open-minded and love learning.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe that a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet and I believe in a world without barriers. Also it's a great opportunity for cheap accommodation while traveling and new people to meet and friends to make and cultures to experience beyond the tourist trail.

One Amazing Thing I've Done
I went to Prague Castle during the evening and went all the way to the top and saw a gorgeous view of Prague at night. Prague is the most beautiful city I've been to so far. I went to Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria and since I knew the gatekeeper to the castle, he took me to the top of the castle, where tourists and travelers rarely go to, and I got to see a view from the castle few people ever see. I went by boat across the Bodensee (Lake Constance) and ALMOST made it to Switzerland from Germany. I went to the Chinatown in San Francisco and went to an authentic Chinese restaurant and interacted with the servers in Mandarin. I once learned to cook Korean bulgogi by myself. I met Benny Lewis, language expert and founder of Fluent in 3 Months, and Stephanie Zito, travel hacker and founder of Wandering for Good, last year at the World Domination Summit.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English and Spanish and I'm eager to practice other languages and learn new languages. I also would love to share stories about traveling and living unconventional lives and also stories about my time in Toastmasters and my experience with international students. I'm very eager to learn how to cook new foods, as I love cooking.
What I Can Share With Hosts
I always am willing to share books with my hosts, as I'm a book-lover! Also I love to share and exchange stories about what each of us have done and what we're currently doing.
