About Me

Hey there! I'm Alice (although you probably already noticed that with the giant font up top, haha). 😄

Describing myself isn't exactly my strong suit, but here's the lowdown: I pride myself on being one of the most understanding and open-minded individuals you're likely to come across. I wholeheartedly embrace the rich tapestry of human diversity. Whether you've embarked on an unconventional life journey, identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, or have a penchant for some unique hobbies (like mushroom-inspired carpet gazing 😅), I'm all ears and open arms!

Now, onto my beliefs and values. I have a strong aversion to those who crush dreams and stifle others' aspirations. My eyes glaze over when I'm stuck in conversations with people living in the monotonous "work-home-TV-work" cycle.

A few years back, I broke free from a stifling relationship and decided to carve out MY OWN PATH. After grappling with a severe bout of depression, I rose from the ashes like a phoenix and rediscovered my true self and aspirations. I've become a person who embraces change and eagerly welcomes new experiences. Despite dedicating over a decade to the world of IT, I'm now setting my sights on university to delve into the enigmatic world of physics, where I hope to explore the intricate connections between our minds and the vast realm of quantum fields and beyond. And, surprisingly, even though I used to consider myself an introvert with a touch of sociophobia, I've found myself thriving as a partnerships manager at a European design studio.

Picture this: You could wake me up at any moment and declare, "Hey, today we're embarking on an adventure to a new city," and about 20 kilometers later, I might finally ask you to spill the beans about this mysterious city you've got in mind.

Currently, I call a quaint Ukrainian village home, where I live with my boyfriend. Together, we're the proud parents of not one, not two, but 8 amazing feline companions! 😍 When the time comes for me to venture to a new country, you better believe I'm taking my fur babies along for the ride. Oh, and I could keep you entertained with fascinating cat facts and adorable cat videos for hours on end. So, be prepared for a deluge of feline-related fun! 😅

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As per both numerological insights and my inner convictions, this year seems poised to be a pivotal moment in my life—a significant milestone, if you will. Therefore, in the heart of November, I'll embark on a thrilling solo journey from Ukraine to France, where my father now resides.

However, the ultimate destination is not the crux of the matter. I stand on the precipice of a life-altering decision—to relocate and settle in Germany. Rather than opting for the quickest route, my aim is to savor a 2-3 week exploration of the authentic Germany, far removed from the touristy veneer. I yearn to immerse myself in the true essence of the country, to resonate with its rhythms, forge connections with local souls, absorb its culture, and determine if there's a symbiotic "spiritual connection" between me and this land.

In my quest for this profound experience, I'm more than ready to engage in conversations ranging from the intricacies of reincarnation to the enigma of black holes, and to witness the first light of dawn. I'm equally excited about sharing laughter in your favorite local haunts and even attempting to prepare a delectable pot of Ukrainian borscht, should you fancy. What I truly seek are new friendships—perhaps ones as delightfully chaotic, windswept, and open-minded as I am.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh, the ever-evolving world of music, movies, and books—a realm of endless wonder! 🎶🍿📚

Let's kick things off with music. To be honest, I consider myself more of a music enthusiast than someone with a singular genre preference. It's just too darn difficult to choose! Among my favorite artists, you'll find the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Within Temptation, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Vance Joy, AJR, and sometimes, when the mood strikes, something as electronically invigorating as Veorra.

Now, when it comes to movies, well, that's where it gets even trickier. For some reason, I've developed a penchant for TV series, cartoons, and scientific documentaries, steering clear of traditional movies. I've got a soft spot for the wisdom of Morgan Freeman and the myth-busting prowess of "MythBusters" 💖. As for TV series, I'm all in for the mystical and post-apocalyptic realms: "The Last of Us," "The 100," "Under the Dome," and the gripping nostalgia of "Stranger Things."

And then there are books—the gateways to countless worlds and adventures. Of course, the magical allure of the Harry Potter series has its irresistible hold on me. I fancy I'd be a perfect fit for Ravenclaw, don't you think? 😅 But my enduring love extends to Tolkien's mesmerizing world of "The Lord of the Rings." These days, my reading list is peppered with scientific tomes, but when I circle back to literature, my all-time favorite book is 'The Flicker Men' by Ted Kosmatka. It's a captivating journey that never loses its shine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had the extraordinary privilege of becoming a mother to a lively clan of 8 marvelous cats. It all started when it was time to schedule a routine visit to the vet for our two cats, but life took an unexpected turn, and priorities shifted during a time of turmoil. As a result, they predictably found themselves expecting, and before we knew it, we were blessed with the arrival of 7 adorable kittens.

While 3 of these charming furballs found loving homes with others, the rest remained unclaimed. Who could resist the allure of these non-breed kittens, even when they seemed to have a peculiar penchant for treating your head as a missile target? As fate would have it, we ended up becoming the proud, larger-than-life family to this delightful crew. And among them, a little scamp named Diesel mysteriously made his way into our lives, refusing to leave a place he'd come to call home. It's safe to say our personal cat distribution system was in full swing—proving that when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes the most incredible adventures find their way to you, whether you're ready or not. 😺❤️

Teach, Learn, Share

What I Want to Learn: Well, first and foremost, I'm on a mission to level up my English skills in real-world situations. Beyond that, I'm a sucker for diving into the depths of intricate geek topics, be it deciphering the charge of a particle or envisioning the elusive electron. But honestly, there are no boundaries here—I'm genuinely eager to absorb knowledge about your local history, your region's unique wildlife, and even the hottest party spots. You could say I'm on a quest to master the art of living, and every conversation is another brushstroke on the canvas of understanding.

Teaching... or Awakening: While I may not have a teaching degree, I do have a knack for stirring your soul, shaking up your daily routine, and coaxing your true self and dreams out from the shadows. I can guide you through the process of conquering your fears and embracing what I like to call the "philosophy of indifference," in the most positive sense. It's all about finding balance and letting go of the unnecessary baggage that holds you back, and I'm here to help you unlock that potential.

Sharing: As a self-proclaimed "citizen of the world," I'm prepared to open up my world to you. You can count on my hospitality, my collection of books, even my wardrobe if the need arises. I'm more than willing to devote my time, share my thoughts, and even break bread with you. Just one caveat: my collection of stuffed toys? Off-limits! 😅

What I Can Share with Hosts
