About Me

I was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in the cornfields of Pennsylvania, spent time living in France, England, South Korea, and Tunisia, and went back to Washington for grad school. I spent a couple of years working for the World Wildlife Fund and NOAA managing protected species like sea turtles and whales, and then moved to North Carolina to work on a Ph.D. in Marine Science and Conservation at Duke. Most recently, I spent six months in Australia, and now I've moved to France to work at a university Paris.

I love skiing when I'm near the mountains but I'm really a beach bum at heart. I grew up on Lake Erie and still try to spend as much time there as I can, there's just something about being by the water that you can't beat and I love filling my summers up swimming and having bonfires on the beach.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've only surfed a couple couches but it's been a great experience and I'm open to hosting people who needs a place to crash and want to explore Paris. My own couch surfing experiences have been stellar, I had a great time staying in Tours, France with a Spanish teacher and her daughter, and then in St. Kitts and St. Martin with someone else. I used to host quite a few people in Washington, D.C., but then had some roommates that were uncomfortable with it and got out of the habit of hosting. Just trying to help others out again while they're on the road because I know how exhausting travel can be, and how nice it is to have somewhere chill for a couple days.

Interests

I play soccer, watch way too many Liverpool FC and MLS games, and have coached kids teams on and off the last few years. I was a climbing guide in college but am more than a bit out of shape these days. I play frisbee in the summers, ski in the winters, dive when I'm near the water, and have been working around horses since I was four. I'm also a photographer and spend a lot of time fiddling with photos to print as gifts for friends.

I feel a bit cooped up during the week so my weekends tend to fill up quickly with house shows, bars, museums, basketball and soccer games, etc. Always looking for people to get out and about with because there's so much to do.

Anything I know I'm happy to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

So the logistics about my place: I've only got one couch that so I can only host one person--unless my roommate is out of town and I can give you my bed and sleep in his.

If I can hang out, I'd love to get to know you and show you around town, but to be honest, it'll depend on my schedule and whether I already have other things to do. You'll probably be on your own quite a bit, and I'll be around in the evenings, but depending on the day and how much work I have piling up, I might have some more free time. I have a roommate, his name is Charles, super nice and easy to get along with as well.
