About Me

I am an energetic and curious person with plenty of drive. I worked in the video games industry as a professional journalist for 5 years, but then I made a 180 degrees turn and became a sailing yacht captain ;) I worked in the sea for 4 years, visited 30+ countries and sailed all across Europe, from Polar Circle to Canary Islands and from Saint Petersburg to Reykjavík.

Now I'm back on dry land and getting married on Mike, TV producer and a host of his own TV show about technologies, video games and science. He's a great guy and avid traveller, and our doors are always open for surfers from all over the world.

No doubt, we travel as a couple, too. I provide various sailing stories, and we also carry with us video game consoles ;))) My favourite is PlayStation 4, while Mike is a desperate fan of Nintendo Wii U and 3DS handheld. We have lots of newest games and, for sure, our host is welcome to play!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When on a business trip, Mike and me used to stay in the hotels.
But as a sailing yacht skipper I visited various places off the road, spent hours talking to locals, living like the locals, cooking like the locals, and I found it to be so much nicer, better and rewarding.

We love to get the feel of the country we visit, and we love to tell people about our country. We tried Airbnb earlier this year, and now we are on Couchsurfing too.

Interests

I could have written “long-distance swimmer and runner, avid reader and language learner with a special love of science and history”, but in reality my biggest interest is life. Being a trained journalist, I have my own sailing blog with 1000+ subscribers and occasionally write for different sailing magazines.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love challenges, and at the moment I am training for a non-stop Cross Continental Swimming Race in Bosphorus Strait (6,7 km in 2 hours). Earlier I arranged sending a copy of Russian videogames magazine to the International Space Station – just for marketing and fun.

What I Can Share with Hosts

— We always carry with us 3 video game consoles — PS4, Wii U and 3DS and the newest games for them.
— I lived in UK and I'm a certified RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean (meaning a captain of a sailing yacht of the highest level ;)
— Mike's a pro tennis player and he can be your partner on court.
— We have 3,5 higher educations among 2 of us, and we can keep up the ball at any topic.
— If you want us to cook, I'm very good at making pies and sweet desserts :-)
