About Me
Hey Guys I’m Amy, originally from the UK, but I’ve been calling Bogotá home for almost 9 years now – and I’m absolutely in love with it! The vibe, the people, the culture… it’s all just magic. I came here for a short adventure and, well, now it’s home! I work with Dame Tu Lengua, which means I get to be a part of something super fun and creative, helping people connect through language and culture.
I’m all about good vibes, good conversations, and getting lost in new experiences. Whether it’s hiking up the stunning hills, dancing the night away at a party, or chilling at a cultural event, you’ll find me soaking in everything this amazing city (and country) has to offer.
If you're into language exchanges, let’s chat! I love learning new languages and sharing my own. Plus, I’m always up for hiking trips, crazy nights out, or just sharing stories over a cup of coffee or a cold beer. Can't wait to meet like-minded travelers who are up for an adventure!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived the Bogotá Dream: When I first came to Colombia, I didn’t expect to fall so hard for the city. Now, after nearly a decade here, I’ve become a true Bogotana – hiking to the top of Monserrate for sunrise, partying until dawn at underground salsa bars, and exploring hidden spots that only locals know. I’ve learned how to embrace the chaos and beauty of Bogotá, and it’s been an unforgettable ride.
Partied Across Colombia: From the buzzing streets of Cartagena to the lively fiestas of Medellín, I’ve danced my way across Colombia. Whether it’s a local neighborhood fest or an all-night reggaeton throwdown, I’ve had my fair share of unforgettable nights. Let’s just say, if there’s music, I’m there! 🎶
Language Lover’s Paradise: I’ve worked in language exchange for years, and through that, I've made some of the best friends from around the world. I’ve helped people improve their Spanish (and my own) and discovered unique cultures through the power of words. I’m basically a bridge between worlds, and it’s been amazing to see so many connections bloom.
Hiked the Lost City: Ever since I moved to Colombia, the Ciudad Perdida (Lost City) trek was on my bucket list. After a grueling 5-day trek through the Sierra Nevada jungle, I finally made it! Sweaty, tired, and covered in mud, standing at the top overlooking the ruins was hands down one of the most epic achievements of my life. The view and the experience were absolutely worth it!
Taught British Slang & Lived the Culture: As a Brit living in Colombia, I’ve found myself teaching the locals some fun British slang ("Oi mate, fancy a pint?"), and in exchange, I’ve picked up some seriously amazing Colombian expressions (that I love throwing out at the right moment). It’s been hilarious and eye-opening to see how our languages mix!
Worked on Creative Projects with Dame Tu Lengua: Helping bring language and culture together has been one of my most rewarding experiences. From hosting events that celebrate diverse ways of communication to working on exciting projects that bring people from different corners of the world together, I’ve had the privilege of being part of something that connects hearts and minds.
Started a Cultural Exchange Night: I love sharing my passion for cultures, so I helped start a regular cultural exchange night where travelers and locals could meet, share stories, and talk about their home countries over food, drinks, and music. It’s now a favorite tradition among a group of friends and strangers alike. People leave with new friends, new knowledge, and definitely a good time.
Fell in Love with Colombia: As cliché as it sounds, I truly fell in love in Colombia. I met someone who has taught me so much about life, love, and what it means to live fully. Colombia’s warmth, energy, and spirit have become a part of me in ways I never imagined when I first stepped off the plane. Sometimes, the best adventures aren’t just about the places – they’re about the people you meet along the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m really easy-going, and I love to meet people who are open-minded and ready to share their stories and experiences. I’m not picky about the space, just as long as it’s comfortable and welcoming. I'm all about positive energy and good vibes, so if you’re down for making the most of your time together and showing me some hidden gems in your city, we’ll get along just fine!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m more than happy to share stories of my adventures, teach you a bit of British slang (you never know when you'll need it 😉), and share my favorite spots in Bogotá. Whether it’s giving you insider tips about the city or taking you on a hike, I’ll make sure you get the best of my Bogotá experience.
Also, I’m a really easy-going guest. I can adapt to pretty much any living situation and will respect your space and house rules. If you like cooking, I’d love to swap recipes or even cook together (my British-style comfort food is always a hit).
