ABOUT ME

I like to get out into the world and see those things I really want to see, and hopefully find more of the wonderful things (like love, beauty, humanity, joy, virtue, adventure) that I know are out there, and I've been experiencing through CS.
I'd rather live a risky magical life than a joyless mundane one.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in liberty, love, society and humanity. I think strength is a virtue, and wisdom takes both experience and judgement. Other virtues I value include courage, honesty, generosity, joy de vive and loyalty. I think all these things are rare, in our world, but worth searching for, and encouraging.
I do not value weakness, in any of its forms...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been an enthusiastic Auckland host. Now I can't host, but I like to hear from people. I put my weight behind good causes like CS, and against personal politics or any unjust repression of liberty if I see it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I once hosted a complete stranger by accident... long story, involving mistaken identities... It was surprisingly liberating, for both of us :-)
Since Feb 2008 I have hosted lots of people (easily over 1000 surfers), and I love it, especially when they join in my crazy life...

I've taught 70 year old ladies how to breakfall, and how to disarm a knife-wielding attacker. I think the amazing thing was that they had the cahoonies to ask to learn.
