I believe the true essence of travelling is not to shelter yourself from the differences of the place you're visiting, or even to avoid discomfort in many occasions. Meeting people, making friends, sharing invaluable moments with them and learning from their experiences is what makes any trip take on meaning. Meeting people from other cultures, skipping a lot of the protocol interactions, is what humanity is really about and I feel this community seeks to do precisely that.
