CURRENT MISSION walk with an open heart ABOUT ME Hey everybody! I'm Anastassiya (short form Ana) and I'd describe myself as an Austrian with Russian roots. It's been a while since I was on CS, because I needed time to finish university and getting used to the busy PhD life. However, I think that Couchsurfing is a great idea and an unique opportunity to get to see new places and get to know very interesting people. By now, I had just the best experiences. Currently, I'm doing environmental research, which I think is very cool and gives me a feeling of doing something useful and interesting. I also believe that music is a fantastic way of communication. Therefore I enjoy it a lot to go to concerts, meet people and dance. Walking and cycling around for hours is a hobby. This is the best way to get to know a place and the people there (even my home town).

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now I'm on a musical expedition. It started with Gypsy Folk music moved smoothly to Funk and Soul and has come to Jazz and classical music now. Here are some favorits: Björk, Tori Amos, Death Can Dance, Manu Chao, Thievery Coperation, Gnarls Barkley, Massive Attack, Placebo, Amadou&Miriam, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone Favorit writers: F. Dostojevski, A. Saint-Exupery, B. Brecht, E. Hemingway, O. Wilde, I. Allende, H. Hesse I don't have a TV since years. This makes it very comfortable to choose which movies you want to see. My pereference goes always for the films from the festivals like Cannes, Berlinale or Viennale. I search for movies which have a message. For me this means walking out of the cinema and having the feeling that something touched your soul. Recently I discovered Ingmar Bergman and I like his style very much! (Thanks to Turkay, my CS-friend, for this great recommendation!)
One Amazing Thing I've Done
