***I don’t have whatsapp!!! Also, I’m here to meet people and hang out, NOT for hookups and dates (kindly get off Couchsurfing if you're here for that). I won't accept your friend request if we've never met.***
Hello there, I'm Andrea, originally from *a suburb of* San Francisco before moving to NYC (http://tinyurl.com/leavingsiliconvalley). I then left to travel Asia, Oceania, USA, and Europe for 7 months and returned to NYC until covid, during which I moved to Colorado for the outdoors; I’m now doing some hiking in Arizona!
- I do not drink alcohol (or coffee for that matter)/smoke/club/party (https://tinyurl.com/nonalcoholiclife).
- I don't have a phone (http://tinyurl.com/myphonestory), no WhatsApp, no Instagram, no other country-specific apps, no social media except for Facebook/Messenger which we can use if it works better for you than Couchsurfing.
tl;dr about no phone because many people have asked about it (also the reason I wrote the article):
- I don't need it, and I don't want it. Many "needs" are self-created but when we stop and think, do we really need it?
- I access the internet via a laptop, so it's not that I live without technology.
- Navigation: I know my way around where I live to not need a map. For traveling, I read physical maps, and for driving, I have a GPS.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing fueling meaningful travel: https://tinyurl.com/meaningfultraveling

Traveling, especially solo traveling (http://tinyurl.com/solotravelingjourney), is one of my passions! Growth and personal development are really important to me, and traveling is a great way to learn about other cultures, perspectives, myself, and the world in general. I enjoy deep, meaningful conversations, which I find sometimes difficult to come by. During my travels I also bring my (mirrorless) camera around, and I enjoy trying every country's food! I love hiking, snowboarding, and being outdoors too to wander around, whether in nature's mountains or the city.
Outside of traveling, indoor court volleyball and piano have been constants in my life for a long time. I grew up playing classical piano, but if you give me sheet music for anything, I can play it. Before I moved to NYC, I also taught piano on the side and was in a piano-violin-cello trio!
I also constantly write, which surprisingly developed from traveling! I travel blog to remember activities, people, thoughts, and feelings, and after returning to my normal life following my 7-month 2018 journey during which I was writing practically every day, I felt a need to continue writing. My goal is to write a book!
I have fun swimming, trying new activities, meeting people, organizing events, reading about personal development and growth, and I'm PADI (scuba diving) certified. I tried surfing once but really want to learn properly, and I also want to try paragliding, paramotoring, paddle boarding, rappelling, and really just anything adventurous and fun-sounding.

Continuously strive to grow and to develop oneself.
Minimize usage of social media and live in the moment. Don't obsess over taking that picture just to post it. (I do photography so I'm totally not against taking the time to take a good picture - just hate the obsession with showing it off.) Travel and go places because you want to, not so you can have that picture and the likes. It's sad that I have to say all this, but the world is slowly (or too quickly?) turning into a place like this.
Be true to yourself. Be grounded in what you believe in, but be flexible to change. Be you for yourself, regardless of what others think.
Revolve work around life, not life around work.
There is no such thing as 'too busy' - only a list of higher priorities and lower priorities. When "something came up" and old plans are cancelled, this means that something is more important than whatever had already been planned.
Live life for you, not for anyone else and not to show others what you've done. Live life to be happy, not for money, power, wealth, or status. Live life to love life!

Music, Movies, and Books
Country music! Also, I grew up playing piano, so I listen to classical music and enjoy attending classical music concerts!
I don't watch movies much, but I like animations (Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, and the like) as well as Christopher Nolan!
Harry Potter is by far my favorite series / books of all time. Other than that, I enjoy reading books where I can take away concrete actions to make my life better.
