About Me

Hi, my name is Andrei, but you can call me Andrew — it's the same name, so don’t hesitate!

A few years ago, we left Russia and I moved to my homeland, Kazakhstan, to live in peace, away from fckdup authorities.

Most of my friends stayed in Russia, so we sometimes feel a bit lonely here. That’s why we host people on Couchsurfing — to meet and connect with amazing people from all over the world. We don’t travel very often ourselves, unfortunately, but I hope we’ll get to go somewhere someday.

I enjoy sports, playing tennis and basketball, hiking, going on road trips, and hanging out at concerts or bars with a beer — basically, all the things regular young people do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We try to help our guests discover Kazakhstan and offer the kind of warm hospitality Kazakh and Russian people are known for. I believe CS using It's the best way to truly get to know a country.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I work out, I like listening to classic rock — AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and other high-energy music. When I’m chilling by the pool, I usually play something more relaxed like jazz — Chet Baker and the like. If we’re on a road trip with friends, I often put on music from ‘80s movies — stuff like The Police or Tears for Fears. And when there’s no internet, I’m fine with listening to whatever pop is playing on the radio.

I’m a fan of films by Stanley Kubrick and the Coen Brothers. I also enjoy obscure arthouse movies that hardly anyone knows about. I’ve watched a lot and I keep up with many shows and films from past decades.

Right now, I’m catching up on Russian classics I skipped in school — reading Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and Chekhov.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Went on an early morning hike to Big Almaty Lake just to enjoy a sandwich.
2) Tried playing golf — turned out to be cheaper than tennis.
3) Quit my job to start a fast-food business (still in progress).
4) Once worked as a high-rise window cleaner.
5) Beat The Last of Us Part II on the hardest difficulty.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can play tennis or basketball with you, go snowboarding or just hike the mountains of Almaty. Aslo ich möchte mein Deutsch üben lub porozmawiać z kimś po polsku. I can also chat with you in Russian and teach you some fun words. I'd also be happy to trade banknotes for collections — I’ve got some Russian rubles!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My guests can count on free breakfast, lunch, dinner, somd beer, fresh bed linens, laundry, a shower, and my company while exploring Almaty.

In return, we expect cleanliness, respectfulness, and if you know how to cook — feel free to make something for dinner!
