About Me

Hey! I'm Andrei from Romania and I’m about to start my first bikepacking trip from Romania to the French Alps.

It’s something I’ve dreamed about for a long time — a slow and meaningful journey where I can enjoy nature, challenge myself, and most importantly, meet people along the way.

I love connecting with locals, hearing their stories, and sharing moments over a home-cooked meal or a walk through their city. For me, travel is about experiences, not just places — and Couchsurfing feels like the perfect way to make the journey more personal.

I’m an open-minded, respectful, and easygoing person. I enjoy deep conversations, spontaneous adventures, and learning about different ways of living. I also love photography, hiking, and finding the hidden gems that don’t show up on tourist maps.

Excited to hit the road and hopefully meet you somewhere along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I genuinely love the human side of travel. Over the years, I’ve traveled to 45 countries, met countless incredible people, and shared unforgettable moments with strangers who quickly became friends.

While living in Copenhagen, I had the chance to host many travelers, and it’s one of the things I’m most proud of — being able to give back to the community and create a welcoming space for others on their journey.

Couchsurfing represents everything I value about travel: connection, generosity, and shared stories. It’s more than just a place to sleep — it’s a way to see the world through people, not just places.

Interests

My biggest passion is traveling — exploring new places, cultures, and connecting with people around the world. I love to capture my adventures through photography and video editing, which has become a creative outlet and a way to relive those special moments.

I'm really into sports and the outdoors — from climbing, running, cycling, to snowboarding in winter. I feel most alive when I’m out in nature, especially on a challenging hike. Last year, I climbed my first 6000-meter mountain, which was an unforgettable experience and a big personal milestone.

Whether it's an urban run at sunrise or a high-altitude trek, I'm always up for something active and meaningful.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I have a pretty diverse taste. According to Spotify, tech house tops my charts, but depending on the mood, I enjoy everything from rock to jazz. I’m always up for discovering new sounds or sharing playlists.

I'm also into thought-provoking books and documentaries. Some of my favorite reads include:

Evolve Your Brain – Joe Dispenza

Sapiens – Yuval Noah Harari

Guns, Germs, and Steel – Jared Diamond

Series I’ve loved:
Game of Thrones, Planet Earth, Friends, Mr. Robot, Black Mirror, Rick & Morty, Mindhunter, Suits, Sherlock, Narcos, Breaking Bad... and probably more I’m forgetting.

Movies I’ll never get tired of:
Fight Club, The Butterfly Effect, Interstellar, Inception, Nightcrawler, The Babadook, The Shining, The Pianist, Catch Me If You Can, The Usual Suspects, The Departed, Joker, and yes — a good dose of Marvel Universe movies too.

What can I say, I really love films and series — especially the ones that make you think or leave a lasting feeling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in India for 4 months, which was one of the most intense and eye-opening cultural experiences I’ve ever had. I also spent 6 months backpacking through Southeast Asia, followed by 3 months exploring Central America, and most recently, I spent 9 months backpacking across South America — including a 4-day Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu, visiting the Salt Flats of Bolivia, and exploring the Amazon jungle.

Along the way, I’ve traveled over 4000 km by bus from Medellín to Machu Picchu, volunteered in the Galápagos Islands, hiked my first 6000-meter peak, and surfed both Pacific and Caribbean waves.

What makes these moments truly amazing are the people I met, the kindness I received from strangers, and the feeling of freedom that comes from traveling with an open heart and mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe everyone you meet knows something you don’t — and that’s the beauty of traveling.

🧠 Teach: I’d be happy to share stories from my travels, tips on long-term backpacking, bikepacking, or volunteering abroad. I can also teach a bit of video editing or photography, or even show you how to cook a few dishes I’ve picked up on the road.

🌍 Learn: I love learning about different cultures, ways of living, and other people’s perspectives. Whether it’s a deep conversation about life or a fun local tradition, I’m always open and curious. As the saying goes, “Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

🤝 Share: I’d love to share laughs, meals, music, and travel stories. In the end, “Happiness is only real when shared,” and Couchsurfing is such a great reminder of that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good company, genuine conversation, and stories from my travels across more than 45 countries. Whether it’s talking about backpacking, bikepacking, volunteering, or just life in general — I love connecting through meaningful experiences.

If you're into creativity, I can show you a bit of photo/video editing, or help you capture some cool content. I’m also happy to cook a meal together, go for a hike or a run, or simply share music and chill.

Most of all, I bring a positive attitude, respect for your space, and appreciation for the opportunity to connect. I’m always grateful for the kindness of people who open their homes — and I try to give back by being a considerate and helpful guest.
