CURRENT MISSION At the ripe age of 28, I'm on my first long term backpacking trip around the world. These last few months I've racked up incredible experiences and met so many great people. This has affected me deeply so my current mission now is to understand this new me and set the course for my next phase in life. ABOUT ME An eclectic, easygoing world traveler who hails from the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. Chinese American somewhat in touch with my roots. Generally outgoing guy who is open to new experiences and has a taste for adventure. I can talk about anything but enjoy conversing about pop culture, technology, and society the most. 30% geek, 10% adventurer, 20% hippie, 10% outdoorsman, 30% bourgeois. Fun facts: have NEVER had a cup of coffee and have met President Obama. PHILOSOPHY -If it's outside your control, there's no point worrying about it. -True peace comes from within -Extensively research any purchase that's more than $25 -If it makes you uncomfortable or afraid, that might be a good reason to do it

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
Because the most interesting moments I've had have been with locals. Because there's a world of special experiences that can't be found in a guidebook but only come through living somewhere. Because the essence of travel is to understand another culture. Couchsurfing is an amazing tool to make this happen.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music I like rock music mostly with electronic and rap tied for second. The 60's and 70's are still the best decades for music in my opinion. BUT there are a lot of current acts to love, here's a sample: Wilco, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Tame Impala, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, LCD Soundsystem, Fleet Foxes, Modest Mouse. Paul McCartney was the best concert I've ever seen. Movies Pretty big movie buff, have rated 1200 titles. Favorite movie is The Matrix. Favorite genre is thriller
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Trekking the Annapurna circuit in Nepal on this trip. Long story short it was the hardest and most rewarding thing I've ever done and the greatest adventure of my life.
My Interests
Travel and music festivals/concerts are my clear favorites. NFL football is definitely next, I'm a huge 49ers fan (unfortunately) and have won my friend's league fantasy championship twice. I like to read non-fiction and have loved history and cultures since I was a little kid. Working in the tech industry I'm also very interested in technology trends and can space out imagining what things might be like in the future. I enjoy TV, internet culture, and movies but have made a concerted effort to cut back for more active hobbies.
