I like an adventure and I like a party and I love combining both. I don't like to plan that much and the best days are the ones that just seem to fall in place... so far this life plan is working out just great for me :-D
I've been living in Budapest over a year now... and I put all my spare time and money into travelling anywhere that looks exciting. When I don't have any of either I just organise CS parties and dinner parties so that other people can come and tell me travel stories and make me jealous.
I'll make a joke out of anything because life is too short. I'm sarcastic because that's what I know and I get impatient to be around new people and make them laugh. We'll get on just fine if you've got a little sense of adventure and you're not going to take anything I say too seriously.
Oh and I'll say things in an English accent on request... but only if you're nice about it ;-)
I'm on FB as well: http://www.facebook.com/andrewjdavison1
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on CS to meet people - I get my energy from being out with a good group of people.
I surf, I organise meetups in Budapest when I travel and I host whenever I can. When people come to stay I go all out to make sure they see all the cool sights and experience a bit of the wild nightlife here - I run on 110% energy when I've got guests.
I don't know if you can call socialising an interest - but I'm going to because it's my main one. I'm a social animal and I get bored if I have to sit around on my own for more than a few hours... I don't think this is a bad thing.
When Im travelling I'll go with the flow... bars, food, walking the city aimlessly... it's all good fun. I definitely want to see the unusual in any place so I always love to meet people can help me find this.
Music, Movies, and Books
All sorts... but I'm no going to waste your time listing them here...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
All night parties at an arts festival called Nowhere in the deserts of Spain. Getting lost in the markets of Fez in Morocco. Learning learning to snowboard in Japan. Diving 15metres of a cliff on the Borocay beaches in Philippines and taking in the awesome view from Skybar in Bangkok with a $20 cocktail in hand.... to name but a few.
To be continued...
Teach, Learn, Share
I did have a good idea once. Instead of forcing people to do military service people should instead be made to live somewhere, anywhere, outside of their home country for at least a year before they turn 25. I think everyone would be more interesting if they did.
What I Can Share with Hosts
When it comes to surfing I look for interesting people, not just anyone with a couch. I don't send out a pile of requests everywhere. If can't find anyone I'll just as happily find a good hostel instead.
I love a host that can introduce me to their friends, socialise, take me interesting places and show me where to find a good party in their town.
