Because my flat is not really in central London, I am more used to emergency hosting situations. I am always happy to help and to provide a couch or a bedroom If you are in trouble or in transit around Stansted airport, do not hesitate to contact me. This does not mean I will accept 'last minute requests' if you just arrived in London without having prepared your trip properly. 🇫🇷 For those who are interested, I can host in the south of France as well, in a wonderful city called Port-Vendres. It is less than one hour to Barcelona and has a direct line to Carcassonne and Toulouse. My flat is less than 10 minutes to the train station. I boycott Facebook / WhatsApp / Instagram / etc, so you can contact me on the open source alternatives, more respectful of your private life. During the day, I am writing obscure and cryptic symbols on a screen, to teach computers what to do. Sometimes, they obey, sometimes not. Outside working hours, I read or cycle, but not at the same time, occasionally swimming. Travelling and reading are probably the best ways to grow up, at any age. I wish to have discovered this website when I was younger. Now, I am happy to meet people from many countries, and learn from their experiences. I have the feeling it is even better than visiting a country as a tourist. London is certainly the most eclectic and fascinating city I have lived and worked in. If you are arriving or leaving by Stansted airport, I am on the way to London, so feel free to drop your luggage and have a rest before visiting the big city, I will host you with pleasure, breakfast (English or French) included. Lee Valley is a great place for hiking and running. See some pictures on trip advisor: https://goo.gl/hjF0ia You can contact me using Signal or Telegram on this number: arodier.74.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I am on CouchSurfing because sharing, experiences or more materialistic things is good for all of us. For the same reason, I am a real proponent of free and open source software, like Linux, and this makes me optimistic for the future. Must be read: 10 Reasons why you should move to another city in Your 20s: http://goo.gl/AyaVUq Last but not least, some little girls I cherish want to travel later. I want to know what it is and to give them the best advices, and maybe a few addresses. I don't enjoy watching sport on TV, whatever it is football or rugby and my politic views are more humanists than ideological...
Music, Movies, and Books
• I am eclectic here. But essentially classical music, blues, Jazz and soft rock. I also like a lot Thiéfaine's lyrics. A special mention for Chris Rea, Mark Knopfler, J.J. Cale, etc... • For the books, I am now mostly into non-fiction books, with a few exceptions, especially science fiction from Philip K Dick. • For the films, I have plenty from various styles that we can watch together if it's raining outside, in French or English.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
• Restoring various monuments around Villefranche de conflent, with the association “ Remparts ”, in France. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villefranche-de-Conflent. • Cutting three cords ;-)
Teach, Learn, Share
• If one day you go to France, and you are willing to, I can teach you some basics sentences and useful words, according to where you go. • I would love to learn your language and your customs. • I can also share ideas about free software in general, and Linux. • I have some games in French, or a chess board as well. • If you want to freshen up or to wash your clothes between two airports, I can help on that as well.
What I Can Share With Hosts
• I can cook French dishes or improvise, make English breakfasts or traditional French with croissants and good coffee. • I can show you the wonderful countryside around here, we can have bike trips along the river or long walks in the forest nearby. • London is half an hour by train, and Cambridge one hour. • If you have kids, there is a great Zoo nearby, called Paradise Wildlife Park. A must-see, really.
My Interests
I am obviously a geek, but not a nerd. Someone said, choose a job you like, you'll never have to work in your entire life. So, one of my interest is computers, but I like reading as well. I am too bad to play any instruments, but I am keen of any help. I like to walk as well, and the area around is great for that. You can see some trails around for instance here: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/find.do?q=broxbourne Depending on my availability, I may be able to show you the countryside or not, but do not be upset if I work, and I have less time for you. I usually go to bed early and wake up early, so I cannot usually stay awake for very late arrivals (e.g. midnight).
