I am from Germany, doing an exchange year in the USA.
I am an au pair, which is like a live-in nanny. I am taking care of 2 beautiful girls and live in the same house and am also a family member for a year.
I've lived in the northern suburbs of Chicago for 6 months and now I am living in Alexandria, VA, close to Washington DC.
I can't host anyone because I am not living on my own. I am living in my host familys house.
I wanted to get to know different cultures, that's why I choosed to live apart for a whole year.
My year ends in January 2016, but my Visa expires in February, so I try to travel a lot and see as many new places as I can, as long as I have the opportunity to.

To meet new people, to get to know other cultures, and of course: it's a cheap way to travel and see as much as you can. Also it's pretty cool to get informations from people who actually live there, like informations or insider, I won't get, when I am staying at a hostel.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I did skydiving in Wisconsin.
And the fact that I decided to live abroad, away from my family and friends, to live with strangers in a country I don't know, is pretty amazing and I am proud that I made this choice.
