About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Brisbane 7th to 12th March
Sydney 13th to 17th March
Melbourne 18th to 22nd March
I plan to explore more of Australia from March to May and that will help me to decide where to relocate. :)
ABOUT ME
I’m a Chinese-born New Zealander, originally from Qingdao, China, and have been living in New Zealand for over a decade.
I’ve always been passionate about traveling, exploring different cultures, and immersing myself in new experiences. Before settling in New Zealand, I had the opportunity to live in several countries:
• Grew up in China 🇨🇳
• Lived in France for a few months 🇫🇷
• Spent 6 months in England 🇬🇧
• Lived in India for 3.5 years 🇮🇳
These experiences have shaped me into someone who loves connecting with people from all walks of life. I believe that every place I’ve lived has given me new perspectives, friendships, and unforgettable memories.
Over the past 10 years in New Zealand, I’ve had a diverse journey:
• Worked in banking 💰
• Opened and ran my own dumpling restaurant 🥟
• Hosted cooking classes and shared my love for food 🍽️
• Started my own property management business, which I currently run 🏡
• Earned a Personal Trainer Certification and now studying to become a Certified Nutritionist 🏋️♀️🥦
• Developed a love for camping, fishing, hiking, road trips, gym training, and swimming 🚗🎣🏕️🏊♀️
• Currently planning to get a Swimming Instructor Certification and learn how to surf! 🏄♀️
I joined Couchsurfing in 2014, and it has been an incredible experience! The idea of meeting people through travel, staying with locals, and sharing cultures was completely new to me back then, and it still excites me to this day. The best part? The amazing friendships I’ve made along the way!
I lived in Auckland for 10 years, but before that, I spent a decade traveling, working, and living abroad nonstop. I’ve visited Fiji, Vanuatu, and many parts of New Zealand, but now my focus is on Australia—I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Now, I’m exploring Australia and considering relocating. Can’t wait to meet fellow travelers and locals along the way!
PHILOSOPHY
I believe in kindness, generosity, and human connection. True happiness comes from sharing, helping others, and spreading love. We all need support at some point, so never hesitate to offer a helping hand to those around you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love connecting with people, exchanging cultures, and experiencing a place through the eyes of locals. I’ve hosted travelers before, and now that I’m on the road again, I’m excited to meet, share experiences, and create meaningful connections!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I started hosting in 2013 in my hometown, Qingdao, and I’ve also surfed a few times in China. Now, as I travel through Australia and New Zealand, I won’t be able to host, but I look forward to surfing, meeting new people, and exploring together!
Once I settle down—whether in Australia or back in New Zealand—I’ll see how I can give back to the community and start hosting again.
Interests
🌍 Traveling & Cultural Exchange
Traveling has always been a big part of my life. I love immersing myself in different cultures, meeting people from around the world, and exploring new places.
🍽️ Cooking & Food Culture
I’m passionate about cooking and food photography! I’ve worked as a cooking instructor and caterer in the past, specializing in Asian fusion cuisine—Chinese, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, and Malaysian. I also enjoy experimenting with French and Italian dishes.
If you love cooking or exchanging recipes, I’d love to connect! I’m planning to start a food blog when I have more time.
🎭 Arts, Music & Photography
I enjoy photography, painting, and attending concerts, comedy shows, and theater performances. I used to do street and portrait photography, and I still love capturing beautiful sceneries and food.
I’m always up for a visit to art galleries, live music venues, or cultural events—if you ever need a buddy to check out a concert or exhibition, count me in!
🏋️♀️ Fitness, Sports & Outdoor Activities
I love staying active and enjoy hiking, jogging, swimming, and dancing.
I’ve taken Bollywood dance classes in India (super fun!) and have been practicing yoga ever since. Though I’m still working on my flexibility, I find it very grounding.
In New Zealand, I’ve also tried fishing, sailing, dragon boat rowing, and badminton. Now that I’m in Australia, I’d love to pick up tennis and golf.
⛵ Learning to Sail & Adventure Sports
One of my goals is to learn sailing and eventually get certified! I’m also interested in getting a pilot’s license in the future. If you have experience in sailing or flying, I’d love to hear your insights!
🗣️ Languages
I speak Mandarin and English fluently, and I’ve dabbled in Japanese, Spanish, and French. I’d love to become fluent in five languages one day, with French, Spanish, and Italian as my next targets!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies, but I’ll admit—I’m not the biggest bookworm (though I’m working on it!). 📖 I do own a lot of recipe books, but I know those don’t count. Haha! That said, I do enjoy a good book from time to time, Philosophy, psychology, educational, skills related, investment related and I really should read more… so if you have any great recommendations, please send them my way!
🎶 Music & Dance
I enjoy all kinds of music and love discovering new sounds and genres. If you have a favorite artist or playlist, I’d love to check it out!
I’m also fascinated by exotic dances and have always wanted to learn how to play the African drum (Djembe). Hopefully, I’ll get the chance one day! 💃🥁
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Too many...we can share that when we meet...: D
Teach, Learn, Share
My life’s mission is to capture the beauty of friendship, culture, and the world through my camera as I travel. One day, I hope to hold exhibitions of my travel photography and work as a freelance artist, creating paintings inspired by my imagination and experiences.
Beyond art, I’m deeply passionate about cooking, fitness, health and wellbeing. No matter where I am, I want to continue teaching cookery classes, sharing my love for food, and one day publishing my own recipe book. Cooking has always been a way for me to connect with people, and I truly enjoy sharing, teaching, and learning along the way.
Another dream close to my heart is to get involved in charity work for children. Someday, I hope to start a small charity project using my skills—whether through food, art, or education—to help children suffering from poverty, hunger, and illness. I believe that every child deserves a better life, access to education, and the chance for a brighter future, and I hope to play a part in making that happen.
Life is about learning, creating, sharing, and giving back—and that’s the path I want to walk. 😊
