I am a curious traveler focused on deep local immersion and rituals. I’ve visited 6 of the 7 world wonders, but prefer traveling with patience and respect: whether trekking to Annapurna Base Camp (Nepal), crossing Vietnam by motorbike, riding the iron ore train (Mauritania) where I also witnessed traditional pre wedding celebrations or walking alongside locals from Puno to Cusco (Peru) during the December 2022 blockades. My journey is built on unforgettable community encounters. I've lived in a Rio favela (Brazil), assisted as an Amazon guide connecting with indigenous villages, helped build a travelers' house during Pachamama ceremonies in Cochabamba (Bolivia), and slept at the home of the woman who witnessed Che Guevara’s capture in La Higuera. I’ve also lived with a family in Ibel (Senegal) for a newborn's baptism while exploring Bassari Country, visited a Zapatista Caracol in Chiapas, and witnessed the Mayan-Catholic syncretism of San Juan Chamula (Mexico). I am fascinated by how humanity celebrates life and death. I love the energy of carnivals (Barranquilla, Rio, Viareggio, Tenerife) as much as the solemnity of Hindu/Punjabi cremations in India and Kathmandu (Nepal), the sunrises of Bagan (Myanmar), and Umbanda ceremonies in Bahia (Brazil) I've also left offerings for the goddess María Lionza at the mystical Sorte Mountain (Venezuela) experienced ancient Toraja funeral rites and the hospitality of Wae Rebo (Indonesia) inside their nail-less, 5-story Mbaru Niang huts. To me, food is a bridge. I'll try everything to show gratitude: from cobra blood to piranha, camel, or crocodile. Thanks to Couchsurfing, I’ve camped in Wadi Rum (Jordan) and connected with wonderful souls worldwide.
