Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I believe traveling is about sharing.
Couchsurfing has allowed me to meet amazing people, discover cultures from the inside, and feel part of places where I was once just a visitor.
I’m not here just for a couch but for real connections, stories, and cultural exchange. 🌍

Porque creo que viajar es compartir.
Couchsurfing me ha permitido conocer personas increíbles, descubrir culturas desde adentro y sentirme parte de lugares donde antes era solo un visitante.
No busco solo un sofá, sino conexiones reales, historias y aprendizajes mutuos. 🌍

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am a curious traveler who seeks to understand the world through its people and traditions. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit 6 of the 7 world wonders, always trying to integrate into local life: from staying in a Rio favela (Brazil) to being welcomed by a Uros family on Lake Titicaca (Peru). In the Amazon (Colombia/Brazil), I assisted as a guide, which allowed me to truly connect with the culture and life of various indigenous villages. In Cochabamba (Bolivia), I helped build a house for travelers and took part in Pachamama ceremonies. My journey has gifted me unforgettable encounters, such as visiting a Zapatista Caracol in Chiapas and witnessing rituals in San Juan Chamula (Mexico), where religious syncretism blends Mayan beliefs with Catholicism in a unique atmosphere of incense and prayers. I also stayed at the home of the woman who witnessed Che Guevara’s capture in La Higuera (Bolivia), and was welcomed in Ibel (Senegal) to celebrate a local family’s naming ceremony while exploring Bassari Country.
​I prefer traveling with patience and respect: whether trekking to Annapurna Base Camp (Nepal), riding across Vietnam by motorbike, or crossing the desert on the iron ore train (Mauritania). I have been moved by the spirituality in India and Nepal, witnessing the depth of their cremation rituals, the sunrises in Bagan (Myanmar), and the hospitality in Wae Rebo (Indonesia), where people live in Mbaru Niang—impressive five-level conical huts made of wood and thatch without using a single nail. I enjoy the energy of global carnivals (Barranquilla, Rio, Viareggio, Tenerife) as much as the solemnity of Toraja funerals (Indonesia) or Umbanda rituals (Brazil). Thanks to Couchsurfing, I’ve camped in the Wadi Rum desert (Jordan) and met incredible people. To me, food is a bridge: tasting piranha, camel, or crocodile is my way of showing gratitude and learning about each culture.

Soy un viajero curioso que busca entender el mundo a través de su gente y sus tradiciones. He tenido la suerte de visitar 6 de las 7 maravillas del mundo, siempre intentando integrarme en la vida local: desde convivir en una favela en Río (Brasil) hasta ser recibido por una familia Uros en el Titicaca (Perú). En el Amazonas (Colombia/Brasil), tuve la oportunidad de colaborar como guía, lo que me permitió conocer de cerca la vida y cultura de diversas aldeas indígenas. En Cochabamba (Bolivia), ayudé en un proyecto de construcción de una casa para viajeros y participé en ceremonias a la Pachamama. Mi camino me ha regalado encuentros inolvidables, como conocer un Caracol Zapatista en Chiapas y los rituales en San Juan Chamula (México), donde el sincretismo religioso mezcla creencias mayas con catolicismo en un ambiente único de sahumerios y plegarias. También pude dormir en casa de la señora que presenció la captura del Che Guevara en La Higuera (Bolivia), o ser acogido en Ibel (Senegal) para celebrar el bautizo de la hija de una familia local mientras conocía el País Bassari.
​Me gusta moverme con calma y respeto: ya sea haciendo trekking al Annapurna Base Camp (Nepal), recorriendo Vietnam en moto o cruzando el desierto en el tren de hierro (Mauritania). Me he dejado asombrar por la espiritualidad en India y Nepal, presenciando la profundidad de sus rituales de cremación, los amaneceres en Bagan (Myanmar) o la hospitalidad en Wae Rebo (Indonesia), donde se vive en las Mbaru Niang, impresionantes cabañas cónicas de cinco niveles hechas de madera y paja sin usar clavos. Disfruto tanto de la energía de los carnavales (Barranquilla, Río, Viareggio, Tenerife) como de la solemnidad de los funerales Toraja (Indonesia) o los rituales de Umbanda (Brasil). Gracias a Couchsurfing, he acampado en el desierto de Wadi Rum (Jordania) y conocido personas increíbles. Para mí, la comida es un puente: probar piraña, camello o cocodrilo es mi forma de agradecer y conocer cada cultura.
