About Me

Hello there, couch surfing community! I am new to the community, but very excited to start participating. I just graduated from University in May--I went to an amazing school in Santa Fe, New Mexico where I studied the Great Books, reading everything from Plato to Newton to Heidegger. I am now starting a summer of travel. I've never left the United States before, so I decided to spend the whole summer backpacking Europe! My first stop is London, where I am currently, participating in a theatre program and watching loads of great Shakespeare and Contemporary plays.

In a few days, I'm traveling to Copenhagen to visit friends and explore Denmark. After that, my mom is flying to Copenhagen, and we will begin a month of backpacking! Mostly, we are spending time in Italy, but we will spend a few days in Paris on the way. I'm mostly interested in getting to know people and seeing parts of the city that aren't full of tourists.

After visiting Italy, my mom will go back to the States, and I will start my solo trip! I'm very excited, nervous, and the possibilities are endless. I could go anywhere!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people and visit WONDERFUL places that aren't the typical tourist traps. I want to explore the true beauty and eccentricities of cities and laugh with new friends.

Interests

I love reading, particularly philosophy, history, drama, and math. I also love theatre. Before studying The Great Books at St. John's, I studied acting for four years at a conservatory called The Strasberg Institute in Hollywood, California. I love acting, but I especially love directing. I've directed five musicals over the past few years, and I want to begin directing plays. Especially after seeing so many wonderful plays in London. Since graduating from college, I've been thinking about how to best pursue professional directing. Much of my time traveling has ben spent thinking about theatre, watching theatre, talking about it, and contemplating what it will mean to move forward into a life of theatre--how and whether this is viable.

I also enjoy the outdoors, especially gardens and beautiful places near water. I love good food, even though I am, unfortunately, gluten intolerant. I adore red wine. Cats are cool.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first play I directed had a cast of 100 people, 10 staff members, and nearly 60 volunteers. It was scary and amazing!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have read my profile, you'll see that I have a deep love for theatre and reading. I love talking about books and the ideas that come from wonderful texts and from living life. I also like to listen to others, so I can share an ear. I've been working as a professional singer for the past three years at a cabaret in Santa Fe, so I can share a song with you! I can cook you a meal and buy you a glass of wine we can share over conversation!
