Exploring the world is my life.

Recently left the northern tip of Vancouver Island where I was working as a biologist on marine habitat restoration projects and underwater environmental impact assessments.

I've now moved to Nusa Lemobongan Island near Bali where I am building a rustic dive resort/ marine research station.

A quote I keep close:

Perhaps some individuals just do not fit in a stable life
close to the village where they were born;
they by instinct need to search for a new place far away.
Many people travel for a few months
before settling into a career and starting a family life.
However, some become hooked on traveling
and can never really return home,
as they are searching for the place where they could resettle,
risking never to find it...
simply because they are addicted to the search.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I became a member of couchsurfing when I was at uni in Australia a few years back. My housemates and I hosted a some great people in our little tropical home. Living on vancouver island I tried to host as many passing travellers as my scattered job allowed. During that time I also surfed many couches during my winter travel escapes.

Now living in Lembongan, I don't have a very big place of my own to host (although I am building a small resort), but I'd be happy to point out some fun sights around the island to anybody who shows up here! Plus I always love hanging out on the beach drinking a beer or two with new mates!!!

Musica, film e libri

Music... nothing beats the atmosphere of live music or sitting around a drum circle with friends. But worked in nightclubs too long to be opposed to some good house or club-tunes.

Movies... The Big Blue, L'Auberge Espagnol, The Beach, Y Tu Mama Tambien

Books... so many new favorites all the time, but of course: The Little Prince, anything by Paulo Cohelo or Naomi Klein, Pico Iyer.

The undiscriminating power of nature. There's an element of beauty in even the most destructive waves.
