About Me

Hola amig@s 🌺

I'm Aran from Canada... mucho gusto! I've spent the last few years travelling around Europe and Central America. My goal during these travels was to improve my Spanish and also to become resilient in the face of adversity. I'm proud to say I'm making progress in both... poco a poco 😉

I'm currently spending the summer in Iceland with Super Crush and fellow Couchsurfer Aris Hax... we met on CS over 3 years ago 💞

After that... who knows! I'm looking forward to meeting you along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I see Couchsurfing as an opportunity to enrich my life and the lives of my fellow travelers through shared resources, comradery, and spirit of adventure 🏄‍♀️

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch TV or enjoy fiction in general. The only entertainment I consume on a regular basis is stand up comedy. My favourite comedians include Louis CK, Anthony Jeselnik, Annie Lederman, Neal Brennan, Ali Siddiq, and Sam Morril but the list goes on and on.

One series/human that has really impacted me is Parts Unknown by Anthony Bourdain. I can recommend his book Kitchen Confidential as well as the following non-fiction works:

📖 Non-Violent Communication by Marshal B. Rosenberg
📖 Cosmos by Carl Sagan
📖 Mutant Message Down Under by Marlo Morgan
📖 The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
📖 Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer

I can also recommend anything written by Yuval Harari, Malcolm Gladwell, Michael Pollan, Katy Bowman, and Jared Diamond.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen and done many amazing things in my life which I won't brag about here. Instead, I'll share a few unachieved goals that hopefully soon I'll be checking off of my list ✔✔✔

⏹ Be comfortable in all situations
⏹ C1 Spanish
⏹ Learn to bake
⏹ Get a motorcycle license
⏹ Hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
⏹ Attend an Abe-Hicks Alaskan cruise
⏹ Attend a non-bullshit Ayahuasca ceremony
⏹ Apprentice in a specialty café
⏹ Create a massive Couchsurfing house with daily communal dinners (temporary goal)
⏹ Create an affordable, unpretentious vegan restaurant, possibly donation-based, possibly on wheels (temporary goal)

Plus, here's a few of my dream travel destinations, in alphabetical order:

📍Sri Lanka

What I Can Share with Hosts

My Couchsurfing hosts can look forward to my sense of humour and inquisitive disposition. I love to go for walks, cook vegan food, and I am happy to help out my host in any way I can. If you want to practice your English, French, or Spanish I would love to be your conversation partner. I am responsible, trustworthy, and will treat you and your home with the highest respect and gratitude 🙏

Om Shanti~
