Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Arasj, originally from the Netherlands and currently based in Amsterdam. I lived in Groningen for my Bachelors, Malta for an exchange, completed my master’s in England, and now work in Amsterdam.
I’d describe myself as curious, open-minded, and outgoing once I get to know someone better. My hobbies include bouldering with friends, enjoying casual drinks and dinners. I’m also half Frisian and half Iranian, which I feel brings a unique mix to my perspective on life.
I decided to join Couchsurfing after a great time in Colombia, where I met several people from the Couchsurfing community and heard their stories about connecting with locals. I’m excited to experience it myself, see who I’ll meet here, and hear your story too!
Hosting
I live in a modern apartment centrally located in Amsterdam NDSM on the 16th floor, with a view on Noord. It’s only 15 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal and 8 minutes from the West. I currently have a separate room available for a guest.
I’d love to host clean, easygoing, and friendly people. If that sounds like you, we’ll get along great!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hope to meet new people, share experiences, and exchange stories. I’m curious about where you’re from and what brings you here, so feel free to reach out.

Music, Movies, and Books
Don’t have a single favorite movie, but I really love Stanley Kubrick’s films, which always leave me thinking. Another standout for me is Everything Eveywhere all at Once and Apocalypse Now. Recently, I’ve finally started catching up on Narcos
I read broadly (although not so much since working), and enjoy fiction and non-fiction. My all-time favorite book is Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse (in which one of the main characters also makes an amazing journey). I’m currently into a book called The Master and His Emissary, a fascinating psychology book
