About Me

First of all, I want to be clear about my view on Couchsurfing from the very beginning. Nowadays, many people use the platform simply to look for a free place to sleep, to seek dates, or even to sell personal goods or services commercially. In doing so, the true meaning of hospitality exchange is often forgotten. I also notice that some people choose to host only women or only men. Perhaps that is their personal right, but it is still worth questioning what intentions lie behind such selective hospitality. In my own country, I have even encountered local Couchsurfing members who are willing to host only foreigners while refusing to host fellow Indonesians. These patterns make me reflect on how far we have drifted from the original spirit of Couchsurfing. For me, the platform should be about cultural exchange, mutual respect, and genuine human connection, regardless of nationality or gender.

Anyway…

When I travel, I usually begin with local food and historical places, as these offer the clearest window into a place’s culture. Local dishes tell stories about everyday life, traditions, and the people who live there, while historical sites help explain how a place became what it is today. Together, they allow me to understand a destination beyond surface impressions. I can also cook a few dishes I learned from my mother, not as an expert, but as a simple way to stay connected to culture and tradition.

Traveling solo feels like a form of meditation for me. I enjoy getting lost and discovering unexpected moments along the way. While I like meeting new people, I’m not much of a party-goer; I usually prefer a quiet coffee and a relaxed conversation.

In my daily life, I work for a non-profit organization focused on conservation and sustainable agriculture. I enjoy exchanging ideas and learning from others in these fields, as different perspectives always deepen understanding.

I treat everyone equally, no matter who you are and where you are from. Racist people are not into my circle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love hospitality exchange! Sharing the hospitality of my hometown, experiencing different kinds of hospitality, and meeting new people are all things I enjoy. Couchsurfing is the perfect platform for all of these experiences.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stayed and volunteered at Aashray Care Home in Jaipur, a remarkable place that supports orphaned children born with HIV, many of whom have been rejected by society due to discrimination or the loss of their parents.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I can teach Bahasa Indonesia (basic conversation, daily expressions, and cultural context). I’m also happy to teach Indonesian cooking, especially simple home-style dishes and street food.

Learn:
I’d love to learn languages, local expressions, and cultural perspectives. I’m especially interested in hearing your life story and experiences, learning about your special skills, and discovering local recipes, if you have any to share.

Share:
I enjoy sharing stories, interests, meaningful conversations, and food, especially when they bring people closer.
