About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world, discover all it has to offer, learn from experience, and most importantly, live life to its fullest potential.

ABOUT ME

Off to Europe round 2!

This time with my very best friend, my boyfriend, Cory.
Fantastic trip planned - Spend November hiking in Ireland, and scoot over to Scotland and England for most of December. Hoping to visit a few friends along the way.
Christmas in Holland, New Years in Belgium, and make our way back to Soulere! A wonderful organic cheese farm in the south of France. No doubt, see the gypsy herself, Mamali :) and our great friend Kris. Keeping our fingers crossed that we have enough money to do a little trip to Spain.
Almost shy of six months, later we'll fly home from Paris, and begin yet another season of planting trees.

PHILOSOPHY

Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't go, that's just the way she goes.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sorry, no couch to offer at the moment. Hoping for some great traveling coming up :) BUT if you ever need any info about places I've traveled (or lived), I'd be more than happy to share my own adventures. I can't wait to have a place of my own to be able to host surfers.

Participating in this project isn't simply finding free places to stay. It's about sharing an adventure, meeting really cool people, and learning more than you ever would staying at a hostel or hotel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a mind blowing Europe trip with one of my best friends, Anali. We had the opportunity of discovering this amazing way of traveling. We've met so many great people through cs. I recommend it to everyone.

There have been many great experiences. I'm especially thankful for discovering a wonderful little farm in the south of France. One of the reasons for returning to Europe!

Anali and I had our first cs experiences in Polland. It was such a great time I knew it wouldn't be the last. We cs all throughout Turkey. Memories I'll never forget and an incentive to return some day soon.

Can't forget our lovely stay in Verona and all of the wonderful people we met in one of the most visited places I've seen yet :)

Interests

Of course, we love traveling!
Met Anali in my program at university. We both graduated with a B.Sc. in Forensic Science. Super interesting field of study. Fell in love with anthropology (bones) and entomology (insects). Hoping to go back to school, but hoping to focus more on environmental sciences.
Cory is taking a wee break from his on going program in architectural technology. He's a huge fan of architecture and is hoping to one day focus more on sustainable living.
I'd love to some day take a photography course :)
Cory and I are both huge outdoor lovers. We met treeplanting. Three years and counting. We love to hike, bike, and skate. We're thrilled to be getting to hike in Ireland. We love the water (swimming, canoeing, kayaking, surfing). It's a given when it comes to snow. We were made for it! If you're in for some exercise, you'll love hanging out with us.
We're also big sports fans. We both play ice hockey. We love animals. I have a mischievous black cat named Bagheera, but we would love to have a dog some day. I'm a vegetarian. Cory loves what I eat, but he loves his meat too. With our crazy lifestyle comes crazy injuries, but we've both done yoga, loved every minute, and hope to practice more in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Maddy - placement with the forensic identification unit in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, planting trees, living on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, visiting Turkey esp. Cappadocia and Buyukada, working on an organic cheese farm in the Ariege near Toulouse, skiing in the Pyrenees, really pretty much everything that happened on last year's Europe trip :)

Cory - flying with his dad as a wee fart, skydiving in southern Ontario, planting trees, surfing on the west coast

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to speak French. Totally bilingual my whole life.
I've always wanted to learn more languages (working on some dutch lately). I'd be happy to swap french lessons for any other language lesson. I've played the piano since I could reach the keys, but would love to learn how to play the guitar alot better.
Cory's a math wiz, but really modest about it. His newest passion has been his architectural drawings. He would love to share his ideas, and he's so pumped about learning all about the architecture in Europe. Huge hockey fan.
We are both hoping to learn much more about sustainable living, and both feel very strongly about the critical state of our planet and our surrounding environment. We would love to share any ideas or thoughts that can help make this world a better place.
