Resumen
Sobre mí
I’m a qualified social worker with a passion for tourism, sustainable development, and humanitarian work. While my professional background is in social work, I’ve spent many years immersed in both the tourism and corporate sectors, working in beautiful destinations like Sri Lanka’s southern coast, supporting businesses and advocating for eco-friendly tourism practices.
After several years away, I’ve returned to my hometown, Balangoda, a quaint town in Sri Lanka, nestled within the largest valley in the country—Mahawalathenna Valley. Surrounded by stunning mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and tea plantations, this area remains untouched by mass tourism, offering a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path experience. I’ve always loved showing visitors the beauty of Sri Lanka’s natural landscapes and its unique, rich culture, and now that I’m back in my community, I’m eager to continue sharing it with the world.
My journey with Couchsurfing began many years ago, and through it, I’ve made lasting friendships and unforgettable memories by hosting and being hosted. I’ve always cherished the opportunity to connect with people from around the world, learn about their cultures, and share my own. I took a break from Couchsurfing, but now I’m ready to jump back in, and I can’t wait to meet new friends and fellow travelers!
I love the idea of community-based tourism, where travelers get to experience local life, taste authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, and enjoy the beauty of nature as we locals do—without the inflated tourist prices. I am an adventure enthusiast and a nature lover, and I’d be more than happy to show you around Balangoda, from its breathtaking waterfalls to its serene tea plantations. I can also offer you insights into the local culture, history, and spiritual heritage of the region. There’s no better way to experience Sri Lanka than to live like a local!
When I’m not busy with my social work or exploring new tourism ventures, I enjoy hiking, wildlife spotting, and learning about sustainable living. I believe in making a positive impact wherever I go, and I love working on projects that benefit both the environment and local communities.
I look forward to welcoming you to my home, sharing stories, and creating new experiences together. Whether you’re here for a day or a week, I promise you’ll leave with a heart full of memories and a deeper appreciation for this incredible part of Sri Lanka.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For me, Couchsurfing is all about genuine human connections and creating win-win experiences for both hosts and guests. I love hosting travelers who are looking for more than just a place to sleep, and who want to experience the real Sri Lanka in its most authentic form. I’m a nature enthusiast with a deep passion for sharing the beauty of my country, and I genuinely enjoy helping others discover the hidden gems that most tourists never get to see.
I’m more than happy to offer local tips, guidance, and even join you on adventures through the picturesque hills and waterfalls surrounding Balangoda. There’s no charge or expectation—it's about friendship, shared experiences, and learning from each other. Whether it’s a hike through the forests, a camping trip under the stars, or just chatting over a cup of tea about life and travel, I believe in building meaningful connections that last beyond just a stay.
I’ve always enjoyed meeting people from around the world, and Couchsurfing brings that opportunity right to my doorstep. It's a two-way exchange, where I also get to learn about different cultures and perspectives while offering you a chance to see Sri Lanka through the eyes of a local. If you're into nature and adventure, we can explore together, or I can recommend some unique spots that are untouched by heavy tourism.
Feel free to check out my Facebook page here to learn more about my interests. My door is open for travelers who want to experience friendship, culture, and nature, and costs are never part of the equation—what matters is sharing good moments and enriching each other’s journey.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My experience hosting Couchsurfers has been nothing short of amazing. Every guest I've had the pleasure of hosting has brought a fresh perspective, a unique story, and wonderful energy into my life. Friendship is at the heart of what Couchsurfing means to me, and I’ve found that the shared moments and mutual respect we build are what truly matter.
From showing travelers around the untouched landscapes of my hometown to sitting by the campfire and exchanging stories, every experience has been rewarding on both sides. It’s been a pleasure to offer my local knowledge, a warm welcome, and unforgettable adventures to people who are curious about Sri Lanka. And in return, I’ve learned about their cultures, traditions, and life stories—it's been a beautiful exchange of ideas and experiences.
I don’t host for money or any expectation of reward. For me, it’s about creating memories, forging connections, and being part of someone’s travel story, just as they become part of mine. The adventures, the nature hikes, the simple joy of meeting new people—these are the things that make Couchsurfing special.
The travelers I’ve hosted have left a lasting impression on me, and I’m always excited to meet new friends and share a bit of my life with them. Whether you’re here for a few days or just passing through, it’s not about what you can give or get—it’s about the connections we make and the friendships we build that make the experience meaningful.
