About Me

Изучая русский язык самостоятельно, если вы бы хотели улучшать китайски язык и также живёте в Шанхае, скажите мне )) A yoga mat, some good books and a cup of coffee can make me happy for quite a while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To encounter local people and learn from their cultures.

It is an excellent way of sharing experiences, meeting new minds, and exploring this big beautiful world.

Love Couchsurfing, because it brings people together.

I am an anthropologist by training, and work as a film producer/writer/yoga teacher. I am passionate about life. Being a vegetarian, yogini and traveller teaches me to lead a life of minimum impact.

Having spent substantial time with the Tibetan nomads, I appreciate human bonds and love creating a sense of belonging for those with whom our paths cross - exactly the way how I have been treated there.

Music, Movies, and Books

What intrigues me in these different forms of arts is the cultural spirit associated with a particular place/region, rather than the particular genre...

A recent good book: The train to Pakistan by Kushwant Singh
movies: Dersu Uzala, Ivan's Childhood, Underground (by Kusturica)..
music: Chopin, Rachmaninoff...
food: mostly vegetarian dishes, Indian ones. Culinary arts have no boundaries. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working on a film for six months along the Yangtze River in China.
Looking for Putin's tiger along the Sino-Russian border.
Traveling with a Romanian accordionist in the Paris metro.
( see my website: http://ashamalia.wix.com/amba).

Teach, Learn, Share

"Doubt - doubt all the possibilities you have. Doubt what you are doing now."
- Best advice I've received.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Time is the most precious thing you can ever share with someone.

- food
I make good vegetarian dishes, and pancakes.
- portraits
if I happen to travel with my camera gears
- let's get zen together...
You can practice yoga, meditation with me in the morning if you are an early bird like me. My yoga methods are rooted in the Iyengar way, so it's more alignment-focus, and stays in one posture for a few minutes. Good for those with past injuries.
