About Me

TRAVELLING IN NEPAL & INDIA AT THE MOMENT (present - late Dec 2015 I imagine)

The purpose of this journey is to look for stories to shoot and to write about. At the same time, also looking for love, for spiritual purification and the meaning of life. Unlike before, this time I brought no books with me, I come with an open heart and wish to learn and absorb as much as I can.

I am an anthropologist by training and passionate about making photos and short films. My website: http://ashamalia.wix.com/amba

Being a vegetarian, yogini and traveller teaches me to lead a life of minimum impact.

Tibet, Russia and Central Asia are some of my favorite destinations. Having spent substantial time with the Tibetan nomads, I appreciate human bonds and love creating a sense of belonging for those with whom who come to my place - exactly the way how I have been treated there.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will give one example of each category, the first one that comes to my mind:

The Time of Gypsies by Kusturica
Hanggai (a Mongolian rock band)
Brother Karamazov by Dostoyevskii

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

All that time spent working on films and photos, traveling to remote places in the world was amazing:

Working on a film for six months along the Yangtze River in China,
Looking for Putin's tiger along the Sino-Russian border,
Traveling with a Romanian accordionist in the Paris metro.
( see my website: http://ashamalia.wix.com/amba).

On the other hand, every present moment is so amazing. We breathe and live the present moment only, don't we.

Teach, Learn, Share

Doubt - doubt all the possibilities you have. Doubt what you are doing now.
Best advice I've received.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Time is the most precious thing you can ever share with someone.

Your time and hospitality will certainly be appreciated a lot. You will find my sensitivity and flexibility most comfortable.

I make good vegetarian dishes. I'd love to take portraits for you and your family if you wish. You can also practice yoga, meditation with me in the morning if you are an early bird like me.

Let's be inspiring to each other and explore. :-)
