About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To know the rules well so I can break them properly.

ABOUT ME

Bay Area native with quite a bit of work-travel experience. In university, I study anthropology with a focus on religious philosophies and practices. I consider myself a life-time student of yoga.

Basically, a very disciplined hippy.

PHILOSOPHY

Unconditional love. I think all which is positive follows from this.

"You have learned nothing through teachings, and so I think, O Illustrious one, that nobody finds salvation through teachings. To nobody can you communicate in words and in teachings what happened to you at the hour of your enlightenment...." Siddhartha

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My Grandfather and I have taken in plenty of Couchsurfers and other travelers over the years.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All wonderful. :)

Interests

Yoga, anthropology, people-watching in general, hiking, roadtripping, worktrades, cooking, tedious anarchist polemics, etc.

Music, Movies & Books

Gilead, In Dubious Battle, Cronica de una muerte anunciada, Cat´s Cradle, Fight Club, Lord of the Rings, and Kafka on the Shore sticks out to me as some of my favorite novels. Also, Siddhartha, The Prophet, Someday I will actually finish Infinite Jest.

Chungking Express, The Fountain, The Wind Rises, El laberinto del fauno, The Wind Rises, The Seven Samuri, The Dreamers, The Departed and Paradise Now.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I once spent an hour watching a team of 20-something worker ants successfully haul a large cockroach corpse up a wall. Recently, I read "The Passion According to G.H." and now it all made sense.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am no longer holding regular yoga classes, but am happy to take requests. Just remember that my tutoring is only as good as my own practice :)

I also offer massage. I am not a licensed professional, but have been practicing on my own for seven years. This is how I make money during my travels (you don't make much doing donation yoga!)

Skill-trade is my favorite form of DIY learning.

What I Can Share With Hosts

I am currently living in the Porter College dorms on U.C.S.C. campus. I don't have a lot to offer aside from an excellent location and a clean space. I have a twin mattress that I keep for guests (I sleep on a mat below) and the bathroom / W.C. is right across the hall. My floormates have designated my room the tea depot so there's plenty of that you're welcome to, and I can bring food from the dining halls if you can stomach it.

Countries I've Visited

Cambodia, Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I've Lived In

Mexico, United States
