About Me

Hey, I'm Bastian.

Just returned from a 3 month road trip across the US, which I did with a good friend of mine, Chrissi.

I consider myself as easygoing and straightforward - I like to chat and hang out. Currently I'm pursuing a PhD in biochemistry at the Technical University of Munich.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend and I had the great fortune of finding kind hosts to stay with almost anywhere we traveled in the US, for 3 months.

Starting July 2014 I'll be hosting in Munich.

So far so good!

I realize that finding a host in a bigger city can be a little annoying. Realistically, only a small fraction of hosts might reply on-time. So I don't mind if you send copy-pasted requests. At all. Just be polite and I'll try my best to help :)

City things, outdoor things.

Talking and drinking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Most things with a good beat.

I like to go and watch old movies, they're a hobby of mine. My favorite film would be The Killing of a Chinese Bookie by John Cassavetes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driving over 12000 miles across the whole of the US in a little Hyundai Accent, in a little under 3 months. I feel like I understand this country a little better now.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love doing science and in my field we obsess over the molecules which actually govern most of our body functions - proteins. If you want, I could tell you a little about them and why it may be worth to study them obsessively.

I speak fluent Chinese, as my mother is from Taiwan. If you need a tandem partner to practice the language, we could go ahead and try that. In return, I'd love to practice my Hebrew!
