ABOUT ME

I love learning about different cultures and languages, meeting new people and exchanging ideas. I can be either relaxed or energetic depending on the occasion, but I always keep my sense of humor. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, but I've done a fair amount of traveling and lived outside of the U.S. for over four years of my life. I'm big on simplicity and service and trying to create a better world.

I live with my partner back in Cincinnati. Aside from a sabbatical year I took with her to travel again through central and South America, I have lived here teaching high school social studies for the past 8 years.

I love studying and speaking languages other than my own. I've spent quite a bit of time studying several different languages-- German, Korean, Turkish, Latin, ancient Greek, Spanish-- and am always eager to practice. I like learning languages because I can use it as a tool to dig below the surface and understand people and culture better than I otherwise could.

I'm also an avid athlete. I especially love basketball, soccer, American football, and baseball. I will never turn down the opportunity to play in a sports match, regardless of what clothes I'm wearing.

I'm also always ready for a deeper philosophical conversation over a coffee or tea.
