I was born in California and raised in Oregon. I grew up as a nerd interested in sports, sciences, music, and traveling. I moved out of the US at 19 and have been working in different countries. I believe that we grow the most when we travel and experience different perspectives, different cultures, and challenge our beliefs. I try to hold all of my beliefs loosely and love learning why people believe what they do.

Okay, enough philosophical stuff- Most of the year I'm pretty busy with work and music practice (french horn). I work in analytics. I usually do a big hike in the summer (1-5 weeks) and try to spend a lot of time away from the computer.

I'm on here because I am passionate about experiential learning, exploring new ideas, and stepping out of my comfort zone. Rather than focusing on tourist attractions, I am more interested in connecting with people and immersing myself in the diverse cultures of the places I visit. I understand the value of meaningful travel experiences and am eager to open my home to fellow travelers seeking the same.

Once I met a girl at a Couchsurfing meet up 6 years ago, spontaneously traveled Europe with her, then ended up marrying her and moving to Sweden :)
