CURRENT MISSION Finding my place in the world ABOUT ME I have worked as an accountant for a multinational enterprise in Spain for over 15 year, but I have always wanted to do something related to teaching: to work with numbers is a very cold job to do and I always made a difference in the lives of other people. Several years ago I worked several months with immigrants in my hometown (La Coruna), teaching them Spanish and it was amazing. I worked as a teacher of Spanish in Germany and I really enjoy the way your students start to develop their fluency in a new language and how I can play an important role in this. I came to Lancaster in september and I am trying to find a job in this field. I decided to be here until next June: if I have not find a job as a teacher by then, I will be coming back to my hometown. But if that happens, I will try to find my place in other country, other town or wherever: my goal is still there and teaching is what I really want to do. PHILOSOPHY There is a sentence from Voltaire that says something like "I do not agree with your ideas at all, but I am willing to give my life so that you can express your ideas". I think this is my aim now, to be absolutely tolerant with others, even if their opinions are completely opposite to mine, and to get to appreciate them with all these differences, accepting like they are and not trying to change them to become more similar than me. In the past, I was very intollerant about others and I think now I have changed and want to know others and not feel incomfortable with them. Part of this is because my religious upbringing, but now as an almost atheist (thanks to my personal evolutions and the readings of authors like Dawkins and Andre Compte-Sponville) I am more open to accept others.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE My only experience at the moment is staying with Josh in York one day: it was very nice, but I think I still have to learn a lot about the Couchsurfing philosophy.
Music, Movies, and Books
I really like reading, specially novel from the 19-th century: of course, the Spanish authors from that time (Galdos and Clarin are my favourites), but also the Russians (Dostoyevsky), the French (Balzac) and the English (I am not very fond of Dickens, but George Eliot is wonderful). However, my favourite book is one from the 20th-century, "The Quincunx" by Charles Palliser, but the plot is situated in England in the 19-th century, so it is not so strange to like this book.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
To walk almost the whole West Highland Trail just after having surgery to reconstruct my broken kneecup. I though I would not be able, but after a week on the trail we reached Fort William: it was fantastic!
My Interests
I am not very sportif, but I really enjoy swimming and hiking. For me, a good night out is not about clubbing, but about going to the mountain and sleeping under the stars. I had walked part of the West Highland trail, the Camino de Santiago, the Transpirenaica, the tour of Mont Blanc (but that was 20 kilos ago!).
