About Me

**Couchsurfing is not Tinder. Please respect the community** 🙏

I’m from Columbus, OH , USA, but consider myself a global citizen. :)

When I’m home I host at least 1 or 2 couchsurfers per month, and it has been such a great experience. This year I have challenged myself to read 52 books as well. My career at this stage in life has limited my ability to travel, so thus, I live vicariously through other travelers.

Half Latino.. so I can kinda dance but not really. Lets discuss how to change the world, help people, and help ourselves.

While my education is in History and International Relations, my career is in "tech" like everyone else right?
However, my dream job is to be Indiana Jones.. but I feel that's a bit far away yet.

Two of my best "adventures":

In 2013 I rode my bicycle coast to coast across America. (3200 miles)

In 2016 I finished by second expedition when I completed the Mississippi River from source to sea. (2552 miles)

I've thoroughly enjoyed hosting couch surfers as they provide me with a healthy dose of stories that temporarily satisfies my wanderlust.

I've lived and traveled around the world and hope to keep doing that. This used to be a shared profile but circumstances have changed. We had a short but successful marriage and are still great friends, so , some of the hosting references do apply to her as well :)

One of my mantra's is: " We judge other by their actions, but we judge ourselves by our intentions".

So, that's a snapshot of me. But if you want to know more.. My Instagram is @Bito89

P.S. (Dudes, because its all been dudes, This is CouchSurfing..... Not Tinder/Grinder...) ....Lets focus on the hospitality ..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Generosity must be practiced. I have experienced this generosity first hand in my travels and expeditions and it has been incredible. Generosity among strangers is one of the greatest gifts one can experience or give.

I have met amazing people through couch surfing, many have become friends. Memories have been made, and I have had the opportunity to add and receive positive experiences in the weird weird story that is life.

On top of that, Couch surfing has taught me there is much more good in the world than we see or think.

Interests

I really really love camping.

Something about living outside for a long time is therapeutic. I spend WAY too much money at outdoor stores.. never even knowing when I will use the equipment, but knowing I will one day.

Canoeing -- As said before.. I've done a lot lol

Hiking -- Next year i'm planning to Hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Border of Mexico to the border of Canada. 2600 miles... lets see how that goes..

Cycling -- long distances.. short ones hurt more

Bar Trivia/ Jeopardy -- This is all I plan to do in retirement

Reading books on philosophy and psychology to try and answer the BIG questions. lol (pls help...)

I've recently learned about "emotional intelligence" at least as a "field of study"... and have been diving into understanding it and applying it.

In 2016 I finally competed canoeing the Mississippi River 2552 miles from Source to Sea.

Planning to hike the Pacific Crest Trail eventually.

Teach, Learn, Share

Lets practice Spanish.

I would love to learn a new instrument, or how tips to be a better person, your grandma's best recipe.

I'll tell you some great stories from my cross country trips.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Whatever you need or want, just ask. Or, help yourself to any food in the fridge.

You will have a private room and shared bath. Or, if you prefer a couch, you can crash their too.
