CURRENT MISSION: be free
ABOUT ME I am a very happy and optimistic person.
"Sunt un frate tânar, care crede în dreptate Am ochi negri, dar am mâinile curate Iubesc pletele și ploaia și cămășile-nflorate Nu răspund când mi se-aruncă vorbe-n spate"
PHILOSOPHY
When you're smilin' the whole world smiles with you!
Carpe Diem!
Don't worry, be happy!
I believe in good people!
The world is big, life is short!
Hakuna Matata!
“There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow. Today is the right day to Love, Believe, Do and mostly Live" (Dalai Lama XIV)
Better to live for one day as a tiger than to live for a thousand years as a sheep. (Tibetan proverb)
Smile, tomorrow will be worse (Murphy law)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've met such wonderful people both as a surfer and as a host!
Interests
Of course I like to travel and to meet new people and different cultures, that's why I chose CS. Actually one of my dreams is to celebrate my birthday on each continent. I'm in love with nature, especially with mountains, I love summer hiking and also hitch-hiking. But that's not all: I also like listening to music (I'm an oldschool guy), tapdancing, playing (board)games ... walking barefoot in the grass, marzipan, dulce de leche, animals, LIFE!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I’ve been wondering the world for 10 years on a budget (5$/day), I’ve visited 79 countries and met their locals, celebrated my birthday on 4 continents, so how on Earth should I choose ONLY ONE amazing thing that I’ve done!?!? Are you kidding me ?
• I hitchhiked 👍 on this wonderful planet half distance from Earth 🌍 to the Moon with such nice people
• I was a volunteer in Africa, Amazonia, Lapland, Siberia and in the Jordanian desert
• I lived one year in Malawi and one year in Ecuador with the indigenous Shuar
• I thru-hiked more than 5000 km: 900 km on El Camino de Santiago (the North Way from Hendaye, France to Fisterra via Santiago de Compostela in Spain), 3000 km on Via Transilvanica & Via Carpatica (Romania), around 700 km on the Israel National Trail, more than 400 km on Kungsleden (King’s Road in Swedish Lapland) and 100 km through the Jordanian desert
• From Fisterra, Spain I hitchhiked all the way to Vladivostok, Russia
• I’ve hiked some trails in the Andes, Alps the GR 20 in Corsica and a trail which I’m calling Via Carpatica throughout the whole Carpathian range in Romania.
• I’ve visited the Iguaçu and Victoria Falls, bungee-jumped at the second one form the bridge connecting Zambia and Zimbabwe over the Zambezi River from a height of 111 m.
• I enjoyed the best birthday present paragliding in my beautiful country 🇷🇴
• I’ve watched the hot air balloons in Cappadocia at the sunrise 🌅
• I’ve tasted all sort of weird things like shubat (fermented camel milk), nijamanch/chicha (fermented beverage made by the local women from masticated manioc/cassava/yuca root, in other words, which is chewed and spit out), bush mice 🐭, balut (fertilized developing egg embryo) 🥚, papaitan (goat/cow innards bitter soup), cuy (guinea pigs), caterpillar 🐛, larvae, silk worms, flying ants 🐜 , opossum, snails 🐌, blood sausage 🩸 and some other exotic food.
• I saw some amazing creatures in their natural habitat: the African Big 5 (🐃 🦁 🐘 🐆 🦏), condors, reindeers, moose, Galapagos giant 🐢, venomous 🐍 ,🦒, 🦓, 🐒, wildebeests, warthogs, hyenas, antelopes, mouflon, chamois, ibex, brown🐻, rays, baby sharks, turtles, blue-footed boobies and many more
• I hitchhiked the Kolyma Highway, the “road of bones” in Yakutia; the region is also known as the Republic of Sakha, the largest subdivision of a country in the world, but also the coldest area in the Northern Hemisphere, which hosts two places I’ve been to: Oymyakon village, the pole of cold 🥶(the coldest permanently inhabited settlement on Earth: the temperatures reached as low as −71.2 °C in January 1924) and Yakutsk, with the coldest winter ❄️ temperatures for any major city on Earth and the greatest seasonal temperature difference in the world at 102 °C (the lowest: - 64.4 °C; the highest: + 38.4 °C)
• I hitchhiked the police car 🚓, fire engine 🚒, trucks 🚚, vans 🚐, boats 🛶, motorbikes 🏍, tuk-tuks 🛺, taxis 🚕coaches, public buses , school buses 🚌, campervans 🚍, caravans, pick-ups, the garbage truck, boom truck, dump truck, concrete mixer truck, tractor 🚜, snow removal truck, horse wagon, a truck carrying alpacas in Peru, a driving school vehicle, a camel 🐪 in Jordan 🇯🇴, Italian Ape 🇮🇹, Russian Kamaz, GAZ, Lada, Volga, Belorussian MAZ , Czech Tatra, Yugoslavian Yugo, Indian TATA and so on
• I was fascinated by numerous folk dances, traditional ceremonies and rituals, festivities and celebrations; I met shamans, wizards and mediums.
• In order to cross a border I had to bribe for the first and only time in my life
• I accidentally (and illegally) crossed a frontier
• I was beaten by the local in Naples
• My toe hosted the smallest flea in the world in Amazonia.
• I was involved in minor car accidents as a hitchhiker
• I saw the northern lights and the Glory phenomenon
• I hitchhiked to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, to Nordkapp, the northernmost point of Europe and I was offered a ride on a Harley Davidson to Cabo da Roca , the westernmost point of the old continent.
• I crossed the Arctic Circle in Lapland and the Equator in Brazil, Ecuador and Indonesia
• I spent one week on a boat in my hammock on the Amazon River
• I saw hot magma of a recently erupted volcano and bathed in natural hot pools in Iceland
• I tried an authentic Russian banya and jumped into snow after a traditional Finish sauna
• I hitchhiked in the Atacama desert in Chile (the driest in the world) and on Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia 🇧🇴 (the world’s largest salt flat).
• I slept in so many unusual places, in my tent ⛺️ or hammock: inside an abandoned castle, under a boat, in bus stops, sheepfolds, barns, cars, trucks, buildings under construction or deserted, rooftops, bus & rail stations, on beaches, forests, mountains etc.
• I was hosted on CouchSurfing on a catamaran 🇵🇭 , on a 4 ⭐️ hotel 🇲🇹 and I hosted a surfer in my tent.
• I was stranded on Borneo island 🇲🇾 during the COVID-19 pandemic, spent some time in a fishing village and finally locked down in another remote village drinking palm tree spirit and eating bamboo rice ... in the end I’ve crossed the jungle, ate bear with the locals, met some hunters on the road and been quarantined by the immigration police.
• I’m currently on a hitchhiking Asian trip which I’ve started in Jordan, crossing the Gulf countries, through the Middle East, all the way to Nepal 🇳🇵.
