About Me
They say it's impossible to make new friends in your 40s. I'm on a mission to prove them wrong :)
I don't live in Novi Sad proper, but on a farm across the river, in a tiny village on Fruška Gora mountain. I live there with my partner, but some parts of the year she's in China and I'm alone here. In summers, my mom sometimes stays here too.
If you're interested in exploring Fruška Gora national park, helping around the yard (gardening, construction, fruit picking and other small chores - the work is never done on a farm!), or just chilling and going on hikes - you're welcome to drop by. The house is big, so you'll have a separate room all to yourself. There are no animals on the farm, except for a cat.
If you are staying for more than two nights, you will be expected to help out; the property is big and help is always welcome.
Non-smokers only.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been on CS since it was created. I liked it when it was a small, tight-knit community of travel geeks; it was wonderfully easy to meet new people and we were all super enthusiastic and idealistic about the whole concept. It has changed a lot, but you can still find good people here.
Interests
I grow fruits and vegetables, which nowadays takes up most of my time.
Other than that, I read, watch movies, go for an occasional hike, learn languages, pick mushrooms, travel a bit here and there.
I wrote several books and shot a couple of documentaries.
When I was younger, I used to be very passionate about hitchhiking, and I've criss-crossed large parts of the planet that way.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot - on average about 20 books per year, and it's mostly novels. I listen to music on a daily basis and love discovering new stuff. I also watch a lot of movies and series, which probably has something to do with long winter evenings here in the village.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wrote a book about traveling in Africa, together with two friends. You can find it here: www.bantustanbook.com
Here's one of my short documentaries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2PthXkiNFA
Recently, I organized a hitchhiking school around Turkey, and I was one of the instructors.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In my life I've been many things: translator, journalist, writer, engineer, programmer, farmer, photographer, teacher and god knows what else. I know a bit about organic farming and gardening in general, growing all sorts of plants, as well as all types of construction (wood, brick, concrete etc). I'm used to working with my hands, and I'm ready to help my hosts with whatever work they might need around the house, yard, garden and so on.
I can play Arabic/Turkish percussions. If you're interested, I can teach you some. I can play the blues harp/harmonica, badly.
I know a lot about nature in general, especially about trees, fungi, insects, birds and forest ecosystems. I often go to the forest (it's a short walk from my house) and keep learning about how it all works together. If you're a fellow forest-geek, we'll have a lot to talk about.
