CURRENT MISSION Mission! Gosh! I want to improve myself and have fun in the process despite the pain ABOUT ME Being surrounded by nature is a basic need, cities are great but I need to be near the trees & grass and the wind & the elements often. Edinburgh is a great city because we have a mountain in the city, we also have a lot of green space and a beach and lots of wind. I like a quiet life, a real home bird. Have an artistic bent, need to have creative outlet. this can be anything from cooking to taking pictures. I like to be doing things either in the great outdoors or at home. PHILOSOPHY stop and smell the roses.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING I joined couch surfing in 2011, I have hosted a few people at my small flat in Edinburgh, it has been inspiring to meet people from all over the world that I wouldn't ordinarily get to meet. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I believe in hospitality, I think it is not so important in some cultures than it is in others. I think it should not die out in this modern world we are living in. I think when you have received great hospitality from someone you should pass it on to another and this creates a better world.
Music, Movies, and Books
Love music! anything with soul and or good rhythm. Eclectic taste Love great singers and song writers. Favourite female singers include Nina Simone, Jill Scot, Eartha Kitt, Dinah Washington, Billy Holiday, Eta James, Mary J Blige. Favourite male singer/song writers include, Elvis Costello, James Brown, Gill Scot-Heron, Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, Bob Marley, David Bowie, told you it was eclectic Don't go to movies very often, a bit unimpressed about a lot of films, I think there is an awful lot of bad films being made these days. the last good film I ever saw was a Spaghetti Western which I saw back in the seventies called 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.' only kidding, but remember being very impressed with it at the time. Saw Clint Eastwood's last movie 'Gran Torino' and it was also very entertaining. I've seen a few Argentinian films which have impressed me, such as 'Son of the Bride' I like anything with a good story about human relationships. Don't like car chases and special effects at all. Very much enjoy documentaries, recently saw "War Dance" which was about Northern Ugandan children from the Acholi tribe competing in a national dance competition between all the schools in Uganda. It's a must see. Don't have time for reading many books. Tend to gravitate to factual before fiction. Not because I don't enjoy fiction, but it's a luxury and I want to know about stuff. At the moment I am looking at books on plants and gardening.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
went up Mount Bromo, an active volcano in Eastern Java to watch the sun rise, was so good I stayed another night to do it again. I spent a year in Indonesia which was an incredible experience I was very fortunate to have. I also walked on a wild section of The Great Wall of China, which was really awe inspiring. It was great to have these experiences, however, I don't think we have to travel such long distances to see amazing sights, I would like to see more of this beautiful country I live in, Scotland, weather permitting.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy learning and if I have any knowledge of interest to anyone I am willing to share it.
My Interests
Gardening, I love growing things. Food, flowers and anything I can squeeze into my allotment. Playing football, but have had to give it up. Love African Dance. I have been dabbling in photography for years. Have struggled with the crossover to digital but am getting there. My favorite cameras are medium format film cameras such as Hasselblad and Mamiya and I like transparency film.
