Overview
About Me
I can seem a bit distant when I first meet people, but that is just my shyness, which usually wears off after a bit of time. I like going to concerts and dancing a lot. Currently I am also trying to learn how to sing. When traveling I love to just walk around the streets and see where it takes me. I love meeting and getting to know new people and ways of living. I also love swimming and will attempt to go into any body of water I see, no matter the weather. I am curious about many things but find it hard to act sometimes, which is probably one of the reasons I have been in school for most of my life. In Berkeley, where I currently live, I love to take pictures of the beautiful flowers people have in their front yards.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the concept of staying with people who live in the area to meet people and hear about the experience of living in that place. Traveling is very expensive so I think that couchsurfing is great because it can give more people the opportunity to experience different places. I don't have a great setting to host people currently because I have several roommates and a not very comfortable couch, but am looking forward to hosting people more when I have a better space/couch for it!
Interests
I am interested in philosophy and generally love discussing about life and the world. I also love stories, be it books, movies or personal stories. I also enjoy taking pictures, and playing boardgames. I love hiking, swimming and climbing, especially bouldering.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Medea by Christa Wolf, because it describes so well how much the winners shape how history is told. I recently discovered Kurt Vonnegut, who is both funny and allows one to see our society and its practices in a new light. I also love the water and particularly the sea, and think that Move like water by Hannah Stowe very beautifully describes her journey with the sea and thoughts about it.
I love almost all of Sofia Coppola's movies, in particular Virgin Suicides and Lost in translation. Recently I really liked Past Lives, because it exemplifies that our life can take many forms, and that we live out some version of ourselves while others are left behind, but could have been just as beautiful.
I like a wide range of music, i listen to electronic but also pop and acoustic songs, depending on my mood. I think that Sama Abdulhadi is an amazing DJ. I recently discovered Lemonade by Beyoncé and cannot stop listening to it. In Berkeley there is a big local music scene and some acts I like to go to see are Judith Horn and the Free Key Choir. I have also been a fan of Bonaparte and Belle and Sebastian for a long time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I love hiking, but never felt confident enough to go backpacking. A few years ago my more experienced friends took me on a trip to Rae Lakes in California and being outside in that incredible landscape for 4 days, and swimming in the mountain lakes was breathtaking.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love languages, so am always curious to learn about new aspects of languages I know and practice them. I also love to share what I know! I also like photography but my technical knowledge is quite limited there. Making jewelry and animals out of beads is another activity I like to share.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am down to hang out, or spend time by myself, whatever my host prefers. I could teach some of the cards games I love to play. I would also be happy to cook dinner or breakfast some day, or go get drinks :)
